Has been doing it for months with no fix. Going to have to live with it by the looks of things.

It's a stupid error, not sure why it hasn't been fixed. Just needs an admin to take a look at the server and see what's going on.

    Coding bug somewhere I believe.

In that case it's almost certainly a connection not being closed in the code somewhere. If that happens, a load of redundant connections to the database all stay open until the maximum is reached. At that point no-one can do anything until they all get bored and time out of their own accord.

Used to happen at 32 minutes past each hour, recently I have noticed it doing it at other random intervals.

This is ridiculous. Someone just needs to log onto the server at half nine and type "show processlist", and it'll show exactly what's going on and what queries are being run. Quite annoying if you do actually need to look something up like I did the other night and it just went down; looked at the clock and oh yes, half nine.

You needed to look at the clock? Should be a given.

Thanks Jon, although I believe it is something only Ash has access to. Yes

However, on this note I have been getting very slow connections and sometimes a fail to connect at pretty much 32 minutes past the hour all day today. Crazy

It seems we have narrowed it down to a particular time frame, as Owain says it needs to be looked at at exactly that time to see what's happening behind the scenes. Unfortunately, despite being Admin, we don't get access to ALL the features...
