Yes, it will be fine. The main oil is below the filter anyway sat in the sump.

You will lose a very small amount, just check the level afterwards as when you start the engine with the new filter on, it will fill up and drop the sump level slightly. Yes

The round plastic plug is the bottom bush for the clutch release arm, don't touch it.

The gearbox drain plug is at the rear of the diff housing. Yes

You can undo this by using an 8mm square tool or a 21mm socket (which I prefer).

How about putting the new oil in without putting the drain plug back in Doh , or putting new gearbox oil in with no driveshafts in, LOL Doh , I may have done one or both of those things Hmm

lol someone mentioned doing that in a post i found when reading up about changing the gear box oil.

it was the royal purple stuff, he put it in then went for lunch came back and realised he hadnt put the driveshafts in.

well i eventually got it done anyways, put 2 litres in but nothing came out the hole on the side of the box, so when im next in town i will grab some more. was only about a litre that came out when i drained it lol. and gear change feels a hell of alot less notchy and isnt grinding into reverse now. so im delighted

2 litres is all a gearbox will take. Well 2.1 to be exact. Sounds like you have 3 litres in yours

Really? Unsure

I've never had a problem getting a 21mm socket and ratchet on it. It is close to the subframe but it doesn't foul access...No

Anyway, well done for getting it done. Thumbs up
