How the hell do you go about getting the gear knob off? i don;t want to break it! or isit just fixed to the stick itself..
Mine is pretty tatty now.

Just pulls off, you won't break anything. Apart from your face if you're not careful!

As said, the only thing you'll break is your face or the rear view mirror when it finally gives.

Ah alright thanks! haha yeah i can imagine, now i need to look out for a 6 speed one think there is one on ebay currently.

Try Pug - I got one from Pug as was cheaper than ebay at the time. Pug said initially they were NLA but he tried again and it turned up.

    jesus i bought one in 2010 for my six brand new and that wasn't anywhere near £50, i'm sure it was about £30+vat?! Unsure

    No idea if that's still correct though.

    Yes. The twist is to loosen it and break any adhesive, but it just pushes on/pulls off, there are no threads or anything like that.

    And take care - the other posters aren't joking about possibly breaking your face or rear view mirror when it does let go.

    My first attempt using mole grips failed and so restored to a hack saw.

    Others have come off relatively easily.

    Nah they're just pulling your knobleg, if you keep twisting it, around 30 revolutions it'll come off nice and easy Thumbs up

    Is there not another model of pug that has a leather gearknob that could be used and just swap the 6 speed bit on the top?
    I need a new one, but don't want to remortgage the house to get one....!
