Lift reverse cable if there is one may or may not be needed - can't remember at the moment which is which!

When converted from non lift reverse cable to reverse lift like on a gti 6 box i had to fit my 205 1.6 gti gear stick which had lift up for gti 6 reverse.Do i need to change this or can i still use it without using the lift up function ?

Depends on how the conversion was done, if done properly you need to swap

1. Clutch Arm and shaft
2. Diff
3. Top Selector Arm

If not then you never know what's been done

1.6 and 1.9 gearsticks are the same, as are BE1 and BE3, they just dont have the cable stuff attached.

Ok so it looks like a straight swap gearbox wise i did change the i think it was the inner driveshaft due to the diff seals being different on a gti6 box would this driveshaft be ok for the vts box or would i have to change it back to 1.9 gti spec ?

all BE diff seals are the same, the gti6 diff is the same as a vts diff so keep your shaft as it is.

As per Welshpug my Rallye has a VTS box on, straight swap. Seals the same and diffs interchangeable, I put an LSD in mine.

I had a VTS box in my 309 running a VTS engine, only thing I would say I did not like as much as the 6 speed are the gear ratios of the 5 speedThumbs down

no, they're 5 speed, a bit stronger, also fit better in a 205 than a 6 speed box.

I changed as i preferred the 5 speed to the 6 speed, for track work ideally but it's also still a weekend toy.

Not that i've driven it since. :'(
