G'day all

My project beast has suffered an initial setback, not to worry. LOL

I'll just start by briefing you on the history from the previous owner. The original ECU failed (for what reason I am unsure of).

It was then replaced with an unlocked ECU which worked well for years, including the few months I owned it.

Just recently the car started to stall randomly and every now and then the fuel pump would not prime. Then finally the fuel pump stopped priming all together. The fuel relay behind the battery definitely works!!

Almost there, so I grabbed a locked ECU and matching transponder + key fob (with my actual key in the top) and assumed this would work.

Put it all in and the fuel pump started priming. I'm thinking problem fixed, however now I have no spark.

Man this is so frustrating. Is there something I am missing. I just want it to run again so I can start replacing stuff and getting the project on the way haha.

Cheers, Dom.Thumbs up

I'm almost 100% the immobiliser is still on. Did you also change the transponder aerial which fits around the ignition barrel?

I am thinking this may have failed in the past, hence the previous owner fitting an unlocked ECU. Now that ECU has gone bad and you've replaced it with a locked one with the key and transponder etc, but this new setup will still need to use the transponder aerial which is still broken from last time. Just a thought perhaps? Unsure

Hi Stan, thanks for the reply.

I have changed over the ecu, transponder (the black circle device that fits over the ignition barrel and the key end, they are all from the same car. My actual key (metal piece) has been inserted into the matching key fob as it matches my ignition and door locks!

Unless I'm confused about what the transponder is?

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm using the ecu, transponder and transponder aerial all from the donor car but still no start!

It's under the dash you need to remove the centre console (bit that surrounds the gear stick and hand break lever) you need to pull down the plastic cover to reveal the black boxThumbs up

Bump? Surely someone knows what is going on? Are these alarm units (texton) all different? Meaning i need the same ecu, transponder and aerial and this unit to allow the car start?
