Hello fellow members,

I stumbled across this advert on a dutch 2nd hand site while looking for some parts.

The seller says that he has paperwork to prove this is one of 2 Rallyes that have been imported to the BENELUX (Belgium, Netherlans, Luxembourg).
As a member of this site i know, or thought, that the Rallye was a UK exclusive. Also on the pics it looks like it has electric windows, no rallye sickers as well as a leather alcantara interior, which was not an option for the rallyes if i remember right. Also ehere the rallyes available until 2000?

So... is this a scam or the real thing?? Just wanted to ask you people as i know you guys will be able to see/tell if its genuine or not.

Thanks in advane and cheers Thumbs up

That looks just like a normal GTi-6 to me, it's also got front fogs too. Yes

Ph3 rub strips too,..

Na that's too luxurious,... defo a 6,..
Rallye = Poverty stricken Razz

but a picture of that center console should tell you! Wink alot of the time the aircon is removed but dont bother to change the center console so the A/C buttons still remain Smile

I think the fact that the rallye was uk only makes this nit a rallye. Besides who buys a rallye to turn it into a gti?

Thats a 6, although my rallye did have the leathers when I bought it

The rallye doesn't have
Electric windows
Electric mirrors
External temp sensor
Rain sensitive wipers
Leathers
Air bags anywhere other than the steering wheel
Alarm (factory fit)
Air con
Fog lights

Probably more but if it's got all of the above it's a 6

You sir either live for the 6 or have a mental retardation to still be repairing this!

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fecking temperamental.

There were rallye's marketed in other markets other than the uk, but most of these were either based on the xs or the xsi rather than the gti.

As others have said, the Rallye badge was used in several markets by Peugeot and quite often they were different specifications.

That particular car is a bit of an oddball though. Clearly a phase 3, but no air conditioning, no heated mirrors and no rain sensing wipers. There's nothing that conclusively proves whether it is or isn't a Rallye though. Only looking at the original paperwork & registration documents would give you an answer.

Oh, FWIW I have the VIN of a genuine LHD Rallye, so there are a few that exist. It has the J4RS engine, Rallye front springs, phoenix cloth, no A/C (along with the rest of the poverty boxes ticked) and, alarmingly, no ABS! Crazy

there are or should i say were rallyes in spain. i went to tenerife years back and there was a rally (as in the event) through the hills of tenerife and every other car was a 106, 205 rallye or 306 rallye.
