Thought i may as well put a thread up here, as i'll be doing little bits and bob's to it.
It's a '99 Moonstone 6 with 122k ont he clocks, overall in very nice nick, but needs a few bits doing to make it "mine"
There is pictures in my other thread, but i'll put them here again for the sake of it.....

Here it is the moment i got it home...........

After a damn good clean

First thing to do was the wheels, they weren't bad, but a little scabby and kerbed, and i wanted to keep the cyclones, but i think darker coloured wheels suits manstone better, so i am doing them in BMW Sparkling Graphite.....

Looks a bit dull in this picture, due to lighting, they sparkle very well and look pretty good in the flesh, i did doubt my choice at first, but i now like them. Also fitting 4 new Kumho KU31's on, as it had a mix match of all kinds on it and they where all pretty bald.

Next up was Team Heko wind deflectors, had them on my hdi and really like them, cut wind noise down and you can have the window open a bit when its raining without getting soaked!

The standard exhaust was a bit manky looking, and blowing, so i bought a Magnex off ebay (without searching on here first!)

I love how it looks, it is a little noisy, but i am going to keep the cat on so its not unbearable! I'll see how i get on with it, may get changed if it gets too annoying.
Also fitted my alpine 9855r headunit with iPod control in, lovely unit, and i need a decent radio, it is my daily.
I used to be heavily into my ICE, but that stage of my life is now over, luckily for my ears, so the only other audio modification that'll happen is replacing the standard, blown speakers with something a bit nicer sounding.

Thats about it, got the 2nd refurbed wheel on tonight, only 2 more too do!

My to do list..... my aim is to do MOST of this before the 24th April, as that's when i am putting it on the road.

Remove the tow bar!
Lower it with Eibach springs and adjust the beam
Find a splitter, or preferably a new bumper, as this one is cracked, only rough bit of the car really!
Upper/lower strut brace
Black masks
And that's about it.
I'll update when i do more bits.

Looks a little low on the back already Hmm

Problem with cars which have towbars, is it can increase wear on the rear beam.

I speak from experience, as I bought a 309gti which had been used with a trailer, and both ends of the cross tube were egg shaped

Hmm, could be how its parked?
The previous owner put the tow bar on (i know him), for a bike trailer, and i doubt he used it 10 times?

Realized i've got an issue with the 2nd wheel i painted, halfords had run out of the paint i was using, so i had to have one mixed, at an extortionate price, it painted nastily, but didn;t give a bad finish once done.
Put it on the car and all looked well (light was a bit dim), i came home at dinner time today and had a look, and the wheels are different colours, and not just a little bit, the mixed can one is near enough brown compared to the other one, so that needs redoing now.

this picture show's the front wheel sparkling a little in the sun, camera still doesn't pick it up too well

and this one shows both wheels, doesn't look too bad in the pictures, but looks awful in the flesh

all wheels are painted now, and have their mew tyres on,
Few more bits, i got home today from work and went to roll the 306 back a little, and surprise surprise, the rear calipers are sticking, so i stripped the pas down and wound the pistons in and out a few times with fresh grease in, but they weren't sticking much at all, put it back together, and it was still the same, so i cleaned out and greased the H/B mechanism, put it back together, the same, so after all that i realised it was the H/B cables where corroded and manky, so they had to come off, i was fed up of struggling with limited tools, so went back to work to get a few out of my box......

Got the cables off, didn;t bother taking pictures of that, i'm sure you all know what a skanky cable looks like.

got a new boot badge as someone had half painted the original moonstone, horrid.

Pic of the headunit fitted

And.........ta da, the towbar is off

Tucked away into the spare wheel, i can reattach it in minutes if i ever want to tow anything Smile

Been out and done little bits this morning.
It had a slight knock on the front i noticed on the way home, i think it was a drop link, so i removed them, had to use an angle grinder though, also decided i'd put new TRE's on, may as well seeing as i'm already taking it apart.
Old minging bits all off..........

Cleaned up inside the arches, didn't come up too badly....

And a few pictures of the cyclones now they are all painted..........

Best order some new TRE and drop links.

Yep, correct 55's, it was on 55's anyway too, surprisingly. I love KU31's, brilliant tyres i think, shame they have discontinued them.
And yeah, you remembered right mate, i'm in the rubber business

Right then, i got bored of not doing anything, and the cossie isnt here to fiddle with, so i decided to do my front speakers, i was just going to buy a set of cheapish coax's for it, but seeing as i have £230 quids worth of alpine components lying around, i thought i may as well make them fit. Good thing with this is they have very small magnets that are really light, the whole kit is lighter than the standard equipment, win.

i didn't bother dynamating it, i'm not going for a full on system, just something a bit nicer to listen too.
Tweeters sunk into the mirror back cover thingy's.....

Mids in mdf baffle.....

Crossover mounted on the door.....

door card back on......

And all back together, none the wiser to the untrained eye.

and seeing as its raining, some beading shots..... (playing with a new HDR app atm)

And a 50/50 on the roof....... i waxed half of the roof yesterday in anticipation of rain today, yep, i'm that sad.

and i hdr's a previous pic...... a bit too much though i think.
