HUH? Razz
I just said Big grin

Exciting times!
Only the Front shocks and springs remain on the purchase list now, Well, I need to get the partner bushes still too but they are pennies so hwos counting....
Oh and I actually need to get the beam built. (Note to self: Under no circumstances total up the cost of the suspension refresh/upgrades)
But either way the end is in sight......

Only thing to mention is that I have gone for 205 Group N challenge shocks on the rear based on Gilesy's and Jord's experiences. They also worked out cheaper than B8's too at 150 quid delivered.
Billy bargain.

Great start to your project thread. As said; get your spanners out and take lots of photos including the ones of your bleeding knuckles. There's nothing better than putting your car back on its wheels and taking it for spin knowing you just saved yourself some tokens.. for more bits from pug.

Haha indeed It will getting quite photo heavy soon when I get a bit busy. Although I'll probably fit the wishbones before the rest atm as the bushes are soooo bad now.

I literally haven't been home since October :/ (And have no space here)
But kind of yes...... Since I last posted in here my Headgasket threw a wobbly and Deepak reconitioned the head, I.e fitted a new:
Rich W headgasket
Thermostat
Water pump
Cambelt
Valve stem seals and camseals
And gave it a good clean and MOT as well as a new nissens rad.
Its SO much tighter now, Seems quite a lot quicker all over the rev range and generally sounds a lot better.
I needed to tax it in the same week and I was just shafted for insurance to the tune of 740 quid.
The Suspension would have been done ages ago now if it wasnt for all that happening at the same time!
However,
I go home on the weekend and have been toying with the idea of fitting the wishbones, droplinks, tre's and strut brace,
Thing is though its all a bit pointless without the front shocks seeing as I will be changing them too anyway, Which is why i'll wait until I have it all most likely ( at least for the front)
As for the back, Which is what needs to most attention, I have everything I need it justs needs to be assembled into a nice new beam. I'll contact Jord about this soon after christmas though.

I'll be fitting a new map sensor and fettling with the intake, as well as refurbing the crystals next week but thats all a bit boring Sad
I would much appreciate your assistance when the time comes for beers tokens though :p

I have been trying to order things by priority now so just get this s**t done
So i think as it stands its pretty much.
Get beam built and fit it.
Buy Shocks for front with eibachs
"Decide here if i think its worth getting roller bearings" as im toying with the idea.
Fit the above too with all the other front suspension bits
Buy wheels, Will be most likely new correct bore 16" TD1.2s
Get some proper tyres for them!
Fit wheels
Buy calipers
Fit calipers with the fitting kit and standard 307 302mm discs
Work out if theres a way I can fit 310mm rotors, If not get 302mm bells and rotors made as a copy of the 307 discs.
Supercharge

Intriguing,
Thing is i would have to fit the TB's and Arb

Which i will most likely f**k up...... (And ruin welsh pugs efforts getting it major accurate side to side etc)
Plus i want it 25mm lower that standard which makes its less likely it will come out not ruined again!! :p
obviously the solid mounts would be a piece of p**s. But I hear that Hybrid arbs will make major annoying noises if not fitted 100% correcto and because they have no markings on them are a bit of a pain

Well...
Half a year later and not a lot had happened since August,
Obviously this is mainly due to September Head rebuild tactics and then before I knew it Christmas was around the corner...

Anyway, Everything started to calm down by February so I got into contact with Jord (Andy) to get a beam built,
We planned to get it fitted on March the 22nd (I'd booked a week off so would be in Wales anyway, Albeit south....) but then this happened.....

Suffice to say it wasn't to be...am. (I'll let myself out)
Anyways, A week later and we'd managed to cram it in Easter Monday
Was awesome drive,
Set off in twilight at 6am or so and drove all the way up on mainly quiet roads save for the caravans...
All I could think is how much better it would have been if the suspension wasn't ARSE.

So I got there, It was like a bomb of snow had landed on his cul-de-sac!
After some brews (and Matt is right, The cat is FLUFFY) we set outside and I was presented with a beam that looked so f**king awesome I felt bad the first thing it would experience was gritted roads

Anyways, It was on in no time at all,
The only change of plan was that we didn't fit the Hybrid arb at the time, I'm going to wait until I fit the front bits before I decide what i'm going to do but I might just sell it tbh, In order to purchase roller bushes Devil

The beam is an absolute work of art and you can tell Andy enjoys was he's doing and takes real pride in what he's doing because frankly its just amazing.

And now we are on to handling, Well.
The way this thing deals with speed bumps makes no sense.
Its should be harsher, And louder, And crashy.
But its not at all, It soaks up bumps in the road with minimum fuss and stays flat all the way around the corner. So basically,
21mm Bars, YES!
205 group N challenge dampers, YES!

So then, Solid Mounts...... The topic of much controversy.

Is there more road noise?

Yes, Particularly above 70.
Do I care?
Absolutely not,
They transform the car into something very planted and sure footed, simply put they are totally worth it, It's a bit hard for me to separate the effect of they have from the shocks or the torsion bars, Or just the fact that the beam is new but basically it feels like all you have to concentrate on is the front end of the car now and you feel a lot less sheepish around quick changes in direction.

So heres the beam,
I don't have any photos of it fitted but when I do I will put them here:

After fitting its first test was a 4 hour drive to London.... (9 hours of driving in a day great)

Anyway, what did I do today,

I met with gti6max ( took the drive up to Petersborough) and had a spin in X69 RGG, all I can say is wow. That car is mint and as for Low boost, Well, I'm definitely glad I went up there to pick this up:

All I need is the charger itself and pipework for the SC cooler

I have
Brand New injectors
An ECU (Low Boost)
The Supercharger fitting kit
A high boost intercooler

I don't know when I'm fitting it yet, But jesus do I need that power in my life.
I absolutely need those brakes fitted first though as the standard ones just wouldn't cope imo.

As for the front end?
Very soon Smile
Going to get a clutch and a lightened flywheel fitted at the same time ( Ordered today)

£150 a pair,
Well worth it, Bargain really....
Here where I got them

Clicky

As for when, Don't really know, In honesty it mostly dictated by insurance, If I get a quote and its too much then i'll wait a bit.
Obviously I want brakes first, And therefore bigger wheels and tyres.. Smile

I suspect i'll do the wheels on the cheap though so I can get it done quicker
