During my engie replacement I have seen that my exhaust manifold has a split in it. Went on Servicebox to see the price of a new one and nearly fell off my sofa. The price is, hold on now......... £635.80.

That's going to be a second hand one then haha

It's cracked on one of the exhaust outlets. As you look at the engine its the one on the far right.

Would it be a simple fix for somebody who is a good welder?

Will do, loving all these money saving tips people are giving me, my subscription is easily worth this.

Whilst your here Welshpug I need a further point of advice. My replacement engine is from a 2001 Xsara VTS and the exhaust manifold is different. So will weld mine up and place it on the "new" engine. Only trouble is one bolt is screwed and I can't get it off. Can't get an angle grinder in, my dremmel isnt powerful enough to saw it off. Any idea how to get it off?????? Cheers

yeh which bolt/stud/nut?

usually a good 6 sides 13mm socket does the trick on the manifold nuts, or an Irwin stud+nut extractor socket.

Nut is fu**ed. I have spent all day trying to get it off. Easily accesible with the ratchet sets but the nuts rounded off. Have tried molgrips round it and every spanner/ratchet i've got. Nothing budges it, even after soaking the area with penetrating fluid. Getting angry now

Its 3rd from the left on the bottom. Yeh socket set just wont budge it, the nut is completely rounded off/buggered

Yeh I thought about trying a 12mm socket. Just havent got the access to smash it on the top. But will try that in the morning. If not looks like will have to get an extractor set. More money!! Bloody French cars lol

You can pick up second hand exhaust manifolds off eBay for like £40...would you risk welding it when the price of second hand is that cheap? Unsure
