As some of you may be aware my "6" decided to spit it's big end out and like the taste of metal!

Have spent most of the past two days on here looking into what I should do. Now although I havent got a lot of money (at the minute) I have been wondering whether to keep her standard or whack a supercharger on her. Obviously the second would be a long term project with funds over the next 6 months I suppose.

So what would you do? Replace engine like for like spending £500 or so. Or go the whole hog and have a mad mans car, I think Rich_W threards and Lynx Engineering website has made my mid up lol.

If I do go for the second option what do you think the total outlay would be for a supercharger conversion???? £5000?

Anyway my thoughts are getting out of control now, before you know it I will go out and bu a Merc AMG, I mean who would do that??? lol

Andrew

Buy RichW's old one which is fully tested, and has all the trick bits on it that you are likely to want.

Will cost you less to buy his than do it yourself.

Alternatively, be realistic and realise you can't afford it and buy a replacement engine and lump it Smile

I see the doubters out there about the money situation. I'm one of them lol

On the upside I have just rented my house out and now living with the GF, scary times. Due to this fact I no longer have to pay for a house and feel paying for a supercharger is the perfect payment in m life, well that's what i'm convincing myself.

Now I can share her little 1.4 festa to and from work, halved what fuel costs I had.

GF + Festa = Supercharger. Does anyone else get the math from that lol Smile

You've got 2 options in your current situation. You've moved in together and have some spare cash...Spend the 5k on your girlfriend or your 306.

Mention that predicament to her. A video of her reply earns you basic membership.

Projects= a lot more money just save and buy a super charged one when you can afford it. Sell yours as is then drive that 1.4 for 6 months. Depends how badly you want it.

£5k will pretty much get you an E46 M3 these days, I can't believe people would even consider throwing that kind of money into a 10 year old French FWD rustbucket, and that's speaking as a 306 owner.

You know it makes no sense.

Out of interest, how much have you spent on yours?

Probably about £2500 over about two years, at any point in which I could have stopped. The problem with a SC kit is that once you've started you can't really go back.

For that money I've got an awesome track car with great suspension, wheels and brakes - the £5k on supercharging doesn't even include any of that, and they're all necessary.
