Hi, after a bit of advice.

Just bought a mint set of TD pro race in white 17's. they look gorgeous and are in really good nick(cheers Andy)

So after spending last night giving them a little clean and a layer of wax I thought id put them on.

Fronts on no problems BUT the backs are rubbing on the inner arch big timeSad

Et 17 215/45/17.

So can i just get a generic set of spacers 5mm or 10mm just for the back and this will be ok? bolts might be an issue then as wellDunno

Cheers in advance for any help

Dave

Ideal tyre size should be 205/45/17

It may just be a few stones caught in the plastic wheel arch liner, seen these before where it pushs the liner out towards the tyre from the actual in arch

Cheers Carl - now you say that the liner did not seem flush with the arch - will have a look - would a self tapper or 2 be ok?

As long as the head of it doesn't stick out I can't see why it would be a problem Smile

You might want some 10mm spacers though so you fill the arch better? Wink

You shouldn't need spacers IMO. No

The recommended offset is between 15 and 19 IIRC, so I don't think that's the issue.

Could be down to the tyre size, I run 205/40/R17 on mine, never had any rubbing issues.

As Carl says though, worth checking to see if anything is pushing the arch liner out a bit.

I reckon tyre size - 215s are 20mm wider than the 195s for which the car is designed. Going to 205s will give another 5mm clearance each side (10mm total) without the need for spacers (which are a sub-optimal solution anyway IMO).

Should not need to bodge it with self tappers - push out wheel arch liner fir tree clips from the other side as they are easy to break, remove arch trim clean behind and reinstall.

Remove liners and clean, don't stick self tappers through themNo

Might depend how wide the alloys are,how wide are they?

If they are wide 205's might give you the w**k stretched tyre lookThumbs down

probably only 7 or 7.5's so a 205 will be fine.

205/40/17 is the size that you want to be running on 17" wheels. Yes

Also, this setup gives you a rolling radius difference of 0.01% so your speedo stays pretty accurate. Smile

I have 205/40/17 with mine and no issues now at all.
When my beam was shagged the inside of the wheels scrubbed the liner and wore it through, but all good now repaired.

The offset of my wheels are ET18 and I found that I had to get both my front and rear outer arches rolled to completely eradicate ANY rubbing. Now she's all good. Smile

Same as Andy, I have OZ Hydra wheels with spacers which were turned down to make the offset ET18 all round. Yes

Even then, I needed to get both front and rear arches rolled to completely solve the issue.

Still havent got some 205 40 17s yet - sold the tyres on the wheels so just need to get my hands on some cheap rubber!

LOL they are not TD 1.2 but Monzas but still mint!

I'm hoping not to have to roll the arches though....
