Hey all,

The car will go ok, no hesitation in the revs or gears etc, but its as if i have only half the power and seem to be making abit more breathing noise.

I have checked the coil packs and the charger itself.

my only thought is it could be the sports cat i had put in 2 and a half years ago, but could it have burnt out already by now?

when i drove back and put my foot down, there is only a tiny bit of power and it seems as if the car is struggling or something is restricting it.

any other thoughts?

Adam

Have you checked all of your boost pipe work and intercooler for leaks?

i have had a look yes, but my understanding was because the charger bolts straight onto the inlet manifold, if there was a leak, surely it would be boosting?

1st thoughts would be a blocked/collapsed boost pipe.

I had one completely suck itself shut and it wouldn't pop back out.

well just to add, it has had a charger oil and filter renewal only last august and 1000 miles later. i am thinking it might be something to do with the exhaust system, as someone mentioned the CAT could have collapsed.

could this cause this problem, i had the sports CAT installed just under 3 years ago, most of it has been with the charger installed, could it really die that quickly? i will be going decat if so.

When my sports cat collapsed, mine wouldn't rev past 5k. It did show those symptoms before. If you unbolt the cat from the exhaust, and have a look.

someone at work suggested the cambelt might have slippped? got it booked in on Friday, annoyingly longlife warranty only covers the cat for 12 months. if that is the case, I will decay and sell the cat for scrap.
