Clicky <<< Cant linky because im st00pid Smile

Just wondering if anyone has experiance with these cams and if i need to be extremely cautious if i do have a skimmed head. Seem like a great modification when mapped in. Are pocketed pistons needed?

Cheers all.

I am not 100%, but I don't think you need pocketed pistons for the use of these cams as they spend a lot of time in the advert talking about adding these to enhance the "standard" performance.

Doesn't mention you will need to rebuild the engine with different pistons to be able to take advantage of such items. No

I'd go Newmans or piper, chatted to Sandy and he has not so good experiences of catcams.

Cheers Stan thats what i wanted to hear about not ripping the head off!

Mei, what piper or newmans cams should i be looking at for the same increase? More power and torque with no expense of driveability floats my boat on my less than awesome wage!

PH2's work fine, no idea of gains as I never got a chance to have mine mapped, but it ran on stock ecu.

Piper BP270H will also go in a stock engine, Kent PT's I wouldnt use personally as they have a tad too much lift @ TDC.

Peter Taylor does some regrinds, if you can get a spare set and get on 205gtidrivers sharpish there's a group buy being arranged.

Not seen many published figures or project threads, but Peter's would likely to be some of the best given he's done testing of his own profiles.

For me it would be CatCams + Mapped at RSTuning... I know they give a proven result! Razz

I have to say that Catcams are one of the best power products on the market. Before we swapped over to Cat for our race engines we were struggling to make more than 255bhp, with Cat we instantly got to 302.

They are supplied with a full data sheet, more info than any other manufacturer and advice on what additional components are required ie. piston cut-outs, follower type, and detailed timing data. If you have a profile number for these cams I can advise on the fitment.

Just followed the link, the "106" profile is great with a remap and the latest results can be seen on our blog below dated 10/12/11. Timing is 112/112 and as long as the timing is carried out by a competant engine builder nothing will go wrong. If you use the standard timing marks it probably will. Often Cat will push the limits of a Cam such as this to get the valve to piston clearance fairly close optimizing performance, but correct timing is essential.

Hope this helps.
