Hi All,
I've been planning this for a while now and its got to the point were im going to start picking up bits here at there.
Basically im'm going to buy new suspension for my gti6. Or everything I would need to make it drive like new again.
At the moment i have stashed away:
A hybrid arb
A phillipm lower strut brace

I was looking to do the following,
New shocks all round
New springs
New droplinks
New Top Mounts
New wishbones
Rebuilt beam with 21mm bars
Solid mounts from Daveyboy

Are there any other things i should add to the above that i may have missed out, and components or maybe bolts and nuts etc which might be important?

Im not totally decided on whether to either go OEM but with zx volcanes on the rear or Bilstein B8s up front lowered 30mm on eibachs with the back brought down 15-20mm when it comes to shocks and springs
Any opinions on that point?

Also for the bits like wishbones its Peugeot or nothing right? quality wise? I'd rather spend the extra on something good than cack stuff.

Its about building the foundations for a all round car really because atm the plan is

Suspension
Brakes (807v6) and wheels (16s)
Engine work (either a rebuilt 2.2 or supercharging, in which case i would go striaght to high boost)

Cheers mate Smile
So keep my current wishbones but renew the ball joints and bushes yeah?
Then chuck the money saved into roller bearings?
sounds good to me
worth getting new hubs or no?

I'm also doing this, pretty much, except I'm going with B4's and my own solid w/b bushes.

My question is top mount specific, I'm replacing the bearing, but why would I change the top mount itself?

It's likely that I'm going to get rich w bushes yes. Tbh daver im not sure its necessary but I'm doing all of it with a view to keep the car for a very long time. At least the next 6 years is say. If its not my daily drive then it will end up a track car. So I'd rather cover everything once you know?

Oh rly?
I was looking at Meyle HD wishbones.
Have you got a part number for them bushes? What's up with them, just stiffer?
Tbh it would make some sense for me to go for rollers as its very likely the car will be charged, and I understand they are quite necessary for a charged car?

So anyone got any pearls of wisdom about things I should get that aren't on the list? Any key bolts, nuts etc? Or should i get hubs as well?

Also i was thinking earlier, I pretty much want to have the best road setup possible, money isn't really an issue in the sense im happy to fork out for roller bearing wishbones and Bilsteins (although what Mei said about them being twin tube has put me off them a bit) unless theres something better than them?
coilovers are a bit harsh for road no?

With the rear beam i think im going to use new 21mm TBs. obviously my Hybrid bar aswell.
Are the trailing arms from a xsara actually better? or just different?
Solid mounts
Obviously different shocks (depending on what goes on the front...)

I forgot to say, is there any reason not to buy used wishbones? (genuine ones)
I would clean em up, paint them and add new bushes and ball joints, I was just thinking if they really are 200 new and I dont get some feedback re:Meyle HD then its money saved that can go towards a part that will make difference. Posh droplinks or whatever.

However if they lose strength etc as i've said above i'd rather not cut corners.

Here's what I'm doing to my rallye

B8s on the front with eibachs. Rollerbearing wishbone bushes, brand new strut top kit.

On the rear, rebuilt beam with solid mounts, vts torsion bars, 28.5mm arb and group n Bilsteins

I will set the ride height at the rear so it sits just a little higher than the front

The above set up has been used by a few guys, and is advised by someone who specialises in pug racing

I wouldn't use roller bearing stuff on a road car.

How come Mei? I've used them on all 306s I've had, and found them fantastic

Oh, and I'm hoping to have a phase 1 xsara vts steering rack aswell

too much noise and snatching, not what I want on a road car.

similar thing with solid rear mounts, no give whatsoever which pushes the limit too far then when it lets go that's it, BOOM :/

if it was purely a track or rally car certainly.

That sounds identical to what i was thinking.
I might go -30mm on the front with -15/20 on the rear.
Ive heard good things about not quite bringing the rear down so far. Plus it will preserve the beam a bit better id have thought
