Looking into getting Breakdown cover for my 2 cars but don't know which is best. I have normal just got European cover for the 6 and then not bothered with any cover for my second car, but as i'm not using the 6 too much these days i'm thinking i should get cover for my 2nd car.

My insurance as quoted me £54 for European cover on the 6 and then i need to get the second car sorted. So my question is............

Who is everyone with for breakdown cover?
Is it best to go through insurance or direct?

Have you had a quote to cover you as a person and not each car individually, you're covered whatever you're in then. I have that through the AA.

Haven't done anything yet, only just got my renewal quote a few days ago.

Shall look into it thought. Was interested to see what most people have done weather they have gone down that route or have the cover for them.

Which insurance company are you getting your breakdown cover from? European cover for £54 sounds good!

Getting the cover on you personally would probably be best mate, I believe this is what Tomlin has. Also will cover a car you are a passenger in too. Smile

Sign up to a cashback site then take out AA cover. They were a godsend wehn my car threw my aux tensioner pulley.

I vote for personal cover from the AA or RAC. The amount of time people have called me when they've broken down and asked for help... I don't own a breakdown truck!

Just to revive this thread, I have just looked into European cover for the '6' as it will be going to Europe in three weeks time.
The cheapest I can find is £51, last time I got cover it was £29.99 but that company stipulate that the car has to under 11 years old, which it now isn't. Anyone got any other avenues I can try?

Cheers.

Cheers Mei, do you have an English language site link for them?

I found a site for them but it was in German. Sad

slap bang in the middle of the membership page:

Using the links below to acquire ADAC membership requires that your place of residence is in Germany. For technical reasons, our system does not support international addresses.

If you do not have a German address, please contact an ADAC local office or call 01805 10 11 12 (14 cent/min German landline, max. 42 cent/min. from mobile networks). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

can't find any english language pages, but I've never had to look as I've never used my own car, just know a fair few people that do use them and had great service, prices look reasonable too.

I don't know about covering non-German cars, but if you can get ADAC to cover you they are fantastic.

When you first pass your test in Germany you get free ADAC membership for a year, even on my free membership they came to look at my mum's car when it wouldn't start on the drive even though she wasn't a member, and breakdown cover isn't normally applicable to a car on your drive.
