Hi seeing as a few of you have works vans etc.
Mate has a y reg Berlinge van with the dw8 no turbo engine in it, we were wondering what was involved in fitting a 1.9 td engine (hdi seems too complex) the only problem I can see is that the dw8 will have more wiring then the xud :/
Also the rear beam on the Berlinge is it the same as the 306? What would you suggest to refurb it and stiffen it up, or could it be swapped for a disc'd unit?

Thanks in advance

With the 306 Rallye the goal wasn't to make a purer or more focussed car. It was to make a cheaper car, and then cynically use Peugeot's motorsport heritage to make it appeal to enthusiasts.

you can get them in no problem. i did a xud9te from a 306 into a v plate berlingo a few years ago. wiring was simple as and the only thing that needed modifyling was the fuel pipes. the turbo will hit the bulkhead lip when you put the engine in but a bit of 'reshaping' will get it to clear.

as far as i know the beam is the same as a 405 so that will give you a disc braked one from an mi16 for starters

Rear end is 406, front 306 iirc.
DTurbo is simple just make sure its a Bosch pump on it. They need feck all electrics.

Also might need a Xu 306 front subframe. Not sure though.

Shouldnt do as the DW is the same mounting as an XUD. An old Lucas engine is the same as a bosch, just a ignition live to the stop solenoid. Later XUDs with Lucas will need the stop solenoid houseing ground off to access the electrics.

many berlingo's/partners had 21.3 mm torsion bars as standard, they're only £70 odd each new if you 3ant to uprate it, its a 405 beam.

should not need any BFH action to fit an XUD9TE.

the DW8 does have more wiring, but only due to EGR and emissions bo***cks, possibly some advance control in the fuel pump.

as long as its not a multiplex van crack on, if it is, I doubt it'll be too hard to make it run from a DW8.
