wondering if any other guitarists here get fed up of peoples reception to their music or go through the same termoil i do.

STANDARD SITUATION
i play a room of people "joe satriani - midnight" and then "day at the beach" and i get gawking puzzled faces and no responce.
some other douche plays stupidly simple oasis/pop songs and everyone instantly loves them. :S

ive gotten used to it over the years, and ive always played for my amusement not other peoples.
just wondered if im alone out there with this situation

Is it because nobody listens to Joe Satriani cos he's an over-indulgent fret-twiddler? Dunno

Unfortunately it's not all about what you would like to play. Remember your not playing to yourself your playing to people.

I'm an mc and when I play infront of crowds no matter how big or small I try to adapt my style to them as the listener. I'll turn up an hour before im due on stage just to read the crowd and see what mood they're in.

I also mix aswell and any Dj will tell you that you need to play what the public will like. Not everyone has the same taste. It's different to my side af music but the same applies through out.

Going back to the OP,

If you want to get noticed when playing guitar, make sure you are pulling off a sweet stance when doing it. My Dad used to do that. He be busting out some electrical wizzardry on the Strat, I used to go in and ask a question and then be forced to wait 30 minutes till he finished his solo, whilst stancing and pulling a face, usually the bottom lip bite.

Yeah man, but I, like, play for me? Y'know, not for anyone else. I do it for the soul, for the music. It's just so personal to me. You don't know what it's like being a true musician, not in it for the shallow fame or glory, just in it for the music.

So I was standing in front of this room of people right, making them listen to me. And they thought I was shit, what's with that?!
