Any way this could be implemented? Think it would be far easier to work out what people were unhappy with if certain posts were to be reported, rather than reporting the whole thread because some gammon slipper has quoted 1000 pictures of someone's car?

or the usernames of the people reporting threads appear next to the report button; perhaps we could also have league table of reporters and top of the leader board is.........
i see owains thread to Kev has been reported already? god knows why but the above is an idea worth consideration.

Or, when you file a report it is flagged up to a group of moderators who can assess the thread and delete/edit/lock/move as they wish?

Obviously won't work with the current set up, but when the new admin group is eventually created.

Before we come up with more great ideas, I think the original focus of more admin should be dealt with. It needn't of taken this long, but hey ho one step at a time.

This is part of the problem I think, not even admins have much control over anything. Tbh I think the whole idea of reporting threads is completely pointless, if someone is repeatedly a dick, report the user - don't lock the thread. The other night only served to prove this; five people decide they don't like a thread that many people are replying to, so it gets locked. The people still talking are then forced to start a new thread, then everyone complains how many threads there are.

It's not like anyone's forced to read posts, if there's a thread you're not interested in just ignore it, getting it locked just leads to *more* threads you have to avoid.

surely a move to an I.P board or vbulletin would make things so much easier?

Again, it's the "auto" aspect that's the problem. If you have a few moderators who just get the reports and decide whether to ban someone or not, it's not a problem. The auto-lock is only needed because there aren't any mods about to keep an eye on things.

If you're going to give us plebs the power to lock threads and report users, might as just make everyone a mod. At least then someone could give me my c*nting membership back.

Problem is some of the good threads get ruined by plebs requoting pictures and you have to scroll down the page for ages just to look at replies that are worthy of reading.

Best thing is to burn the site to the ground and rebuild a new one Wink

The good threads don't have pictures of 15 year old clapped out peugeots in them, and that is where your argument falls down young rat thing.
