being an ac and fridge engineer i feel quite....... retarded asking about the gti6 system. its working swimingly, i can pump down, de gas regas it and all that groovy stuff.....however one element is perplexing me.

every time i turn my ignition/engine on the green ac button light is on which i presume means its on (as it is Smile ). i press it and it turns off. i guess thats standard operation, however.

id rather have it off untill i decide to switch it on. is there a way to do so?

failing that im gonna rip it out.

thanks for any advice in advance

I believe it is operational.

I say this, because I know that when the outside ambient air temp gets above 25C it automatically turns on, and I am guessing that when it reaches a minimum temp, its function is to come on to help with demisting etc?

This is only a guess for the low temp, but it is deffo applicable for the over 25C setting. Wink

As Stan says it does come on when above or below certain temperatures, I think it says about it in the owners manual.

Will have a look.........

That could have a lot to do with it then. I thought I was right about the demisting in the cold weather, but I don't use my '6' in the winter so I have never experienced it myself...

My air-con is no longer present in the '6'. Took it out for my first supercharger conversion, and never looked back. The only parts I still have is the button inside and the evaporator.

Never knew that, I wondered why the A/C was always lit up after start-up. Now I know! Smile

Quite a clever idea by Peugeot, but I know what people mean when they say its annoying and its a decision that they want to make, rather than the car do it for them....

So many modern cars do things nowadays that I as a driver wish I had control over rather than some computer.
