Wonder wheels, very nasty to wheels if left on for long periods of time.

When i was doing detailing for a living, i had a supply of industrial descaler, which made wonder wheels look as strong as bath water. It was some serious shit, only used on really heavy jobs, it used to make the concrete fizz and bubble where it ran off the wheel, and god forbid if you caught a lungful of the vapour...

You had a 30 second working time on each wheel before blasting off with the steam cleaner.

Scrap halfrauds for any cleaning stuff. Get yourself on clean your car.com or juicy detailing. Buy a jug of billberry wheel cleaner. It's ph neutral but has enzymes to eat the brake dust. I can't fault it!!

Best thing is to not let them get s**tty in the first place, although I appreciate this doesn't help here. Get them clean using whatever, and apply a few coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. Brilliant stuff, stops all but the most stubborn brake dust from sticking in the first place, and the dirt just washes off with some warm water.

Prevention is better than cure, an' all that.

For me best way of decontaminating and cleaning heavily soiled wheels is as follows:
Pressure wash
Clean with Bilberry
Soak with Carpro IronX, agitate then rinse (this disolves all the brake iron filings even the ones you can't see!) You can use this on the car paintwork too, you will be amazed at what this products lifts out of paint.
Clean with Autosmart Tardis to remove tar, oil and gease.
Clay, tardis and ironx will have removed most of the crap.
Wash and dry.
Polish and seal the rim, then all you will need to do, is, wash and rinse with your regular car shampoo.

I can, spend the voucher on something else like tools. Just don't buy cleaning products from hallfords.

Completely agree, Halfords is s**te for cleaning stuff as it only sells the names people have heard of, people like Bilberry and Bilt Hamber sell cheaper, superior products that never get a look in.

As Matt says spend it on a couple of tools from their Professional range that has a lifetime guarantee, don't spend a tenner on a poncy bottle of washing up liquid.
