No I don't think it has. The people who posted on threads still post now. The reason the forum is getting quieter is that gti6 ownership is in fact pretty rare and is only getting rarer as time goes by.....let's face it the fanbase for pug gti's has never been as big as for example the vw following, never will be.....

Not that I care, makes it more prestigious to be a 6 owner imo Smile

123456 - The membership fees have been introduced for good reasons.

Firstly, the cost of running this wesbite was beginning to mount up, and we have all been enjoying it for a good few years now (eight in my case) totally free of charge. The site was becoming slow and unreliable, so the owner took the decision to move the hosting to a better place for the benefit of ALL. On the downside to this, the cost of running it has increased and therefore as members we need to stump up a small amount of cash to balance this out and keep this forum alive.

Secondly, the amount of trolls signing up and useless posting that was being executed before the fees were introduced was rising at an astronomical rate. The membership fee goes a long way to control this, as only people who wish to contribute and add value to the forum will be willing to pay the money. Timewasters will therefore find another free forum to go and abuse and thus leave this one with plenty of model knowledge, good banter and a useful archive of information for those of us who wish to be part of this great community and would like to see it continue for many years to come.

If this doesn't suit you, I would suggest you take Rikky's advice.

Regards.

I don't think it's just the fees, I suspect it's a combination of things. At first, fewer people were on here as the site was down for so long and many people lost interest. Fewer people on here made it a less interesting place, so the people who *were* on here weren't as bothered.

Fewer people reading means fewer people updating - I know I haven't bothered updating my project thread in months as no-one read it anymore.

Apart from that, fewer people own the cars. Add to that it's winter, so people aren't out working on their cars anyway, and you've got for a much quieter forum. Might recover in spring, might not.

Its winter, folks are quiet and bored, so i wouldnt say its got bugger all to do with membership fees tbh.

Again, it totally amazes me that people aren't willing to pay a fiver to use all of this site for a whole year. Some people just don't appreciate the value of the information in here and the helpful nature of most of the members.

I was the first to find out how to hack the OE stereo code and posted my method for all to use, although I cant remember my username back then.

I mainly use these forums to conjure up information on my vehicle and can no longer add to that information because of the silly charge. I am already 3 weeks late paying my ebay fees Whistle

I just find it sad that your fees will scare many away, new members should be able post in any forum even if initially capped.

On NYE at a party my ex's sister wanted to see it so I had to tell her it was fake. Later that night my mate saw her laughing to someone and caught the end of her sentance, which was 'and Solid Snake'. He p*ssed himself.

I told this new girl im seeing that she has to get 'Liquiiiiid' near her minge. Suprisingly she hasnt left me already.
