This may seem as a stupid request, but before i go and break something!

How do you remove the glass?

The problem i have is the heated mirror is not working and the glass is OK,am i missing something? or is there other tests or checks that can be carried out first.

Cheers

You need to move the mirror glass as far as it will go to the outside, then get a thin screwdriver or similar tool and get it between the glass and the mirror housing (Side nearest the car). There is a wire clip that you need to pop off from behind the mirror to remove the glass.

Halfords do the standard mirror which is cheap enough.
The heated mirrors with the coil on them are pug only as far as I know and they are between £20 - £30 each IIRC Crazy

the retaining clip is easier to access from the side away from the car. direct the mirror as far in towards the car as possible and then its a case of unhooking the spring clip. get a multimeter on the connecter and turn on the heated rear screen. you should see some voltage to the mirror. if you dont its an issue with the door loom. if you get voltage its just a new mirror glass.

It's been a while so that's what I meant Whistle LOL
The easier option is to drive round some tight lanes and wait for another car to do it for you LOL
