Chaps,

I have for sale a Rotrex C38 series supercharger fitting kit to suit the 2.0 16V XU engines. It was uneconomical to just get 1 off parts manufactured for Andy Rawson’s impressive conversion, so I had to increase the quantities of the parts to make it financially viable, given the machine set-up and tooling costs are substantial. This is essentially a spare set of parts I had made at the same time.

This kit differs considerably to the C30-94 fitting kit you may have seen previously.

Besides having a different S/C mounting bracket to suit the larger family of superchargers, it includes all the components required to change the entire auxiliary drive system from a 6 rib micro-v belt to an 8 rib micro-v belt. It is also designed to run with an aftermarket ECU, rather than the OEM ECU (we favour DTA). This means it’s designed as a conventional blow-through arrangement with the throttle body located on the inlet manifold (not on the inlet of the S/C). This set-up will require the use of a re-circulating dump valve and externally mounted MAP sensor (we use the Marelli / Cosworth 3 BAR sensors). A vacuum hose take-off is provided on the inlet manifold for this purpose.

The kit also contains a WRC style inlet restrictor / diffuser arrangement to control power, which was designed with some fluid dynamics input from Wayne Schofield. The restrictor / diffuser has been designed so the air-flow is not strangled until it reaches (or becomes very close to) terminal velocity. This means you won’t be restricting or losing power below the point at which it reaches peak power. This type of diffuser / restrictor is a lot more efficient than using a simple square edged aperture, like the restrictor rings we use on the low-boost conversion.

The kit comprises the following:

• Inlet manifold (colour choice / engraving can be completed to your specification)
• S/C bracket to suit Rotrex C38 series superchargers
• Tensioner & guide pulley for the above, to suit the wider 8-rib belt
• 8-rib alternator pulley
• 8 –rib alloy crankshaft pulley
• 8-rib alloy pulley for the OEM auto-tensioner
• Mounting spacers for OEM auto-tensioner (this is to space it out and centre it on the wider 8-rib belt)
• PAS pump complete with 8-rib pulley modification
• PAS pump relocation brackets
• New low and high pressure PAS hoses to suit the new location
• 8-rib S/C drive belt
• Alloy inlet housing for S/C (this houses the inlet air restrictor / diffuser)
• Inlet air restrictor / diffuser
• K&N air filter
• Alloy air scoop
• All nuts, bolts, washers etc.

This kit is £TBC

Photos to follow shortly.

Merry Christmas!

Rich, will you be using that style restrictor ring on low boost conversions in the future?

No No

This restrictor is expensive to machine, , plus it's more difficult to integrate into the L/B setup where the throttle body is on the inlet of the S/C.

It would add £200+ to the price of a low-boost conversion, and isn't really necessary unless your chasing every last BHP everywhere in the rev range - which is what the C38 conversions are about.

Pretty sure that the cost of the bracket on its own would be uneconomical to produce on its own but I'm sure Rich will let you know.

I had a C38 bracket made because mine got knocked and was out of true. It cost me £200 as a one-off and my engineers charged £100 for the initial programming so if I get one more made I'd like to split that cost, meaning I'd want £150 if one person was interested or £133 if two etc. This price isn't passivated but is available at an extra cost; I just gave mine a light dusting of satin black.

All,

I will be manufacturing some more C38 S/C conversion parts for a member on here.

Does anyone else require any parts made up?

It's extremely uneconomical to make one-offs, so if any one else requires any parts it will help bring the prices down for all parties.

Regards,
Rich Smile

I am interested of a inlet manifold with fittings for the T/B (for use with a C38).
Is this avaliable or can be made ?
