After nearly four years of messing around with the 205 enough was enough. I had only competed in one rally in that time and had to hire a car to do that it. The decision was made to look for something more suitable (ready made) and strip the 205 for parts. Something popped up on the forum at what I thought was a bargain price so after a few pms and phone calls I put a deposit down. Needs a little work to get it up to log book standard but I had to have it. Picked her up on saturady. I think some of you may recognize her Whistle

I must thank Rikky, I know he didn't really want to part with her and was having seconds thoughts but after what was a stressful week for both of us sorting out some problems but it all ended well. Car is now locked away in the garage until boxing day and then the fun begins.

Geoff

I will look after her don't worry about that. Had some fun trying to get it in the garage. Had to crawl across the bonnet to get back out.

I think you made a friend for life there at the post office. I think between that and the woman with all the bags of coin she just snapped LOL She was a lot nicer the first time we went in.

Time for a update. New bucket seats arrived from MotorDrive just before Xmas so I thought I would take advantage of having a quiet Boxing day and get them fitted and change the wheels at the same time. I wish I never bothered Doh

Lost about an hour trying to work out why she wouldn't start after I had moved her round the corner while I locked the garage. Figured it was just a flat battery so went to get my car to jump it, but of course the battery is behind the passenger seat so the leads wouldn't strecth. After much p*ssing about moving both cars into the right position I hooked both batteries up and turned the key, but she still wouldn't fire up No only after all this did I look at the dashboard and see that fuel switch was not on Roll eyes the language was quite choice to say the least.

Once I had made it back to mine I started taking out the seats, harnesses and side mounts. All went pretty smoothly and had them out in about 20 mins. Again lady luck was not on my side. The caged nuts on the bars are too narrow for the new seats Sad so they go on my to do list for the new year. Then had to put one of the EVOs back in to get the car back to the garage. By this time the wind had got up, so decided to change the wheels in next doors shop car park where I would be covered from the weather. Moved everything round there ready to start, only to find I had bought the wrong jack with me. It was too high to get under the sills, I had to admit defeat!

Tried again today, managed to get the wheels swopped, I am sure they won't be to everyones taste but they were cheap.

Hope to start stripping and selling bits off the 205 tomorrow as I have some shiney bits that need buying. Already sorted some roller bearings out from Rich_W and got a rear ARB coming from Ash Thumbs up

here is a pic of one of my new seats. just a shame I can't get them in the car at the mo, will have to get the seat bar problem sorted next week.

and here is a pic of whats in store for the engine in the near future.

Some PeterT camshafts, Stage 2 inlet and Stage 1 exhaust and a pair of Vernier Pullies to go with them. Will now have to try and find another S16 engine for it all to go in.

Busy day today. I sorted out the seat issue. Bought some new straight side mounts instead of the ones that bend in at the top. Had to drill some new holes so the seat bars lined up, was a right pain in the arse but I got there in the end. Was getting some right funny looks from the people at the bus stop.

Left the passenger seat out for now as I had a MSA Scrutineer coming round this afternoon to give the car a once over before I start anything major. Didn't want any nasty surprises. Luckily he was quite impressed with it all, which is a huge relief. no issues with it at the moment so work can commence as soon as some of my parts turn up Thumbs up

Somehow managed to get a seat in this for the North West Stages

just got to learn my left from my right now LOL

What do you think of the motordrive seats? I'd not heard of them before this but they appear quite good value

I think after four months I should really do an update. I have spent the last few months selling parts off my 205 so I could buy bits for this. I am happy to say 95% of the parts are now here and ready to be fitted. I took the bits for my new beam up to Andy's (jord294) a few weeks ago so he could start work building it. This is what the finished product looked like yesterday morning:

and this is what it looked like in the afternoon:

Just need to do something about the boot floor now as the beam puts it to shame Sad The billies will not be staying on for long as I have some nice and shiny bits ready to go on Love just need to work out how to mount the canisters Cool

Would just like to say a big thank you to Andy for all his hard work Yes Really has been appreciated mate, thanks. If anyone is after a new beam it will definitely be worth the trip to see him Thumbs up

Stainless steel P-clips work wonders for suspension canisters, use two placed opposite eachother as one can fatigue quite quick and snap.

no not really No switched companies back in July, its more money and closer to home but being one of the new boys I get stuck with the crappy jobs and don't get as much time off. Pretty much everything I need is here ready to be fitted, just need to find a few free weekends.

Currently trying to get some bells and brackets sorted for the AP Racing calipers I bought Ninja
