Not sure if there is a way?Dunno

Don't think it should just lock itself though, you have done nothing to car?unplugged ECU etc?Dunno

Your key hasn't fallen apart has it?

Ive umplugged my ecu and removed it from the car. The battery had long since been disconected. Will that have caused any issues for me Kev?

Have you checked the knock sensor ? Big red button to right of engine bay ?

It should be pressed down

Thats not the knock sensor, thats the inertia fuel cut off switch to cut the fuel if you have an accident. The knock sensor is bolted to the block and detects knocks/pinking in the engine and adjusts the timing to prevent engine damage.

Bolted to the front of the block with a 13mm bolt inbetween 2 & 3 cylinders. I'm not 100% sure Andy, but I think on our setup it is not used and left unplugged...

All gti6's have a knock sensor, even the s16's too. Its a round sensor bolted to the front of the block in the middle, just below the head. Has a wire and green 3 pin plug on it.

It wouldn't run very well on the Pug ECU if it wasn't there Andy...LOL

As I say I am pretty sure the DTA doesn't use it as an input.
