Bit of snow and cold weather and the 106 electrics die on me Angry

Moving the car off the drive for my missus to leave earlier with the window down having just cleared the snow off it, all the electrics except the headlights die.

Pop to the garage round the corner to check what it could be and he says poss ignition switch or alternator.

Ring alternator specialist that's fairly local and say symptoms, he says probs not alternator, may just be a fuse.

Either way, I'm currently at home waiting for The AA, meant to be at work managing the busiest day of the year (Black Friday) and I don't know if this is going to be costly or not...

Bah humbug...

There's no battery light coming on on the dash, no wipers, no indicators and no power steering. Headlights work fine though Confused

He's sorted the alternator out and connected another feed to it but still no electrics. Battery is now charging and power steering returned but still no wipers or indicators?!?!

Pulled all the fuses out in the glovebox and the 30amp for the windows/wipers had popped, said it must have been a slow burner and the resistance of the weather this morning was too much for it.

So all sorted now, he said alternator was fine, battery was fine, fuses were now all fine and it all works Big grin

He was the same guy who came out to me when my coilpacks died on my 406 last year, top bloke!

And best of all...it was all free as I have the AA through Lloyds TSB...result! Smile

Said there was no need to go to get it checked out a garage as it was probably a one-off and everything just got overloaded at once.

Thanks for your suggestions guys Thumbs up

Since this, my drivers sidelight now doesn't come on on the first click, yet it works fine and comes on with the second stalk click (so on with normal headlights) and my drivers rear light had become swamped with water which in turn had blown the circuit board on the rear sidelight. Drilled a few holes in the rear light to drain water in future and got another bulb holder from the scrappy and it's fine. So have no idea why the sidelight on the front isn't working right...electrical fault you think somewhere? Dunno

Also, my washers don't work. It sounds like it's pumping (well, it's whirring like it is!) but nowt's coming out. Pulled the tube off the back of the washer jets and still nothing dribbled out, so maybe a blockage you think? If it was a fuse gone then it wouldn't even whirr would it? Would a nackered pump still make a noise?

Fecking car...Bored
