Years of driving and on my way home a BMW pulls out of a hotel car park straight in my way, so glad I went to rescue a mate with the truck, otherwise the vanwould have copped it, here are the results-

BMW 0-1 truck

Have to say only had the odd little car park knock, this really makes you think afterwards. Both parties are ok, me and the woman although she got taken to hospital for a check over as she was 12 weeks pregnant.

A scratched front bumper and it has knocked the alignment out on the steering, can't see anything else, doesn't drive right though.

2.2 tons of metal against the plastic front of a bm, no real contest, I never even had time to brake, just skimmed across the front of it.

No that's the side, I drove past the BMW and parked up further along the road.

I was so not looking forward to seeing the damage but couldn't believe it.

Good job your wernt on a bike, i dont think you would have got away so light! Dosey girl.

Would hate to think of the insurance repair cost on the bmw even though it doesnt look that bad.

I dont undertand how the impact is on the front left on the BMW and the impact on your truck is the front left.

Surely if its the front left on your truck the impact would be on the front right of the BMW??

Well had some good news, her insurance has accepted full responsibility and told me just to go ahead and repair mine.

Its a releif.

Just took a photo of the damage in the day light to my truck. Damage to her car comes in at nearly £4000 so i am told, i am ok to repair mine myself as it comes in less than £500.

If you had used another mode of transport that has far more power, you might not have even seen the BMW.

The car that it doing the main hitting, usually gets the worse of the impact.

I take it she wasn't looking properly with the size of the van/lorry.

Lucky (relative term i know) escape there Carl.

Will you end up out of pocket by having to repair yours yourself, or is the repair less than your excess?

Modern cars do seem to disintegrate at the slightest of touches, even though i know they're supposed to do that.

Expect loads of calls for personal injury lawyers. Think you are letting her off by doing it yourself. Bet an independent would not do it for 500 and you would be sued for injury if it was the other way round more than likely

Probably easier to repair it yourself than having it done elsewhere as it invariably takes them about 800% longer than they originally predict to fix the f*cking thing. Yes

Well that was lucky LOL

This happened to my Dad a few years ago but the car pulling out (Rover 25) caused my Dad to spin 180* as the road was wet and it was approx 7am during the winter when the road surface would have been very cold. I guess that was what caused it? The Rover was driven by a woman 50+ impact took the front bumper clean off! Its funny as the same junction is a hot spot for this exact scenario and the occupiers of one of the houses opposite the junction are constantly having to replace the entire front fences LOL

Once I even walked past minutes after this happened, to see a Vauxhall Cavalier sat at 45* across the pavement/garden where it had come to rest after taking out about 40' of fence! Doh
