i know this is not a gti6 specific subject but here goes

Are there any differences between the RGY and RGX (8v turbo) conrods?

I have a mint 8v turbo bottom end but it has the dished pistons which i believe are not suitable with a 16v head,

my plan is to source a set of C20LET pistons and use them with my 8v rods, i just need to know if the rods are

as strong as the earlier RGY ones???

I had a passenger seat run in a 205 16v turbo running a citroen xm bottom end, 320 bhp with t34 and cossie management

guy said its been in there for nearly 4 years and not had any issues with it throwing rods etc

Guy goes by the nickname duffie if any of you know him, great guy btw

sorry, going of topic slightly lol

all 8v rods are the same, even the non turbo engine, which also used the same head and crank.

you could just get an S16 and skim the pistons, no need to faff sourcing bits, they're all there ready.

could just run boost through the standard compression, mapped properly of course.

planning to use cossie L8 management, don't feel confident with 10.8:1 compression and boost,

i totally understand what your saying, but having witnessed a 300 odd brake 205 i just feel the need to follow whats been

tried and tested

BTW, what about machining my dished pistons???

any info, good or bad would be very helpful

cheers

S16 is only 10.4, you could get the dished pistons machined, but rather more complex than just lopping a straight mm or so off the flat topped S16 pistons.

how much does cossie management cost?

already have ecu, loom, sensors. Now looking for complete cossie distributor so i can fit phase sensor setup to the

vacuum pump

probably around the 500 mark, ish. did consider megasquirt

yes its alot of work, but ive already stock piled bits n pieces so going to persevere (or try to!)

i believe ecosse approached their 'T16' sedan in a similar manner, trial and error i guess, what its all about

What confuses me is how can you get away with using factory parts, when peeps like Binka had an engine with all

the forged goodies and still threw a rod in the early stages...

L8 ecu, you can buy a DIS conversion (140 quid) so that you can run twin ignition amplifiers and a normal twin coil pack. this is now a

popular upgrade for the cossie guys who want to ditch the unreliable cap and rotor arm

as i said, its alot of work to do it but it 100% works none the less
