So today was the day of my MOT, I knew there was a knocking coming from underneath the car somewhere but due to being a bit lazy as of recent I took the I don't care attitude!

Unfortunately that attitude lead my car to failure. So off to the MOT station, brakes fine front and rear, suspension front and rear perfect. So on to the ball joints, now I've seen movement in balljoints in my time but this was taking the p*ss! As said she failed so off I went to the local parts centre to buy a nice new shiny one. 30 minutes later all fitted along with my 2nd hand ICV and out she comes with a nice new ticket Thumbs up

Not bad for a 14 year old motor I thought but my oh my do they know how to go wrong at MOT time!

^^^^^^

She's driving your 6 are you Crazy

What is is with you an f*cked calipers? Every 306 you have has a f*cked caliper LOL

Anyway I thought it was my drop links that were the cause of knocking obviously not. I shouldn't have been lazy and checked it.

I had my MOT today and passed. The 2 advisories I had last year (which I didn't fix) didn't come up this time.....
My only advisory is the airbag light flashing which is going to be part of the MOT test soon, as told by the MOT tester.
Just goes to prove the 6s are fighting their corner to stay alive and pass these mighty tests the world has put upon thee.

Congrats Smile yeah they certainly are. As said I wasn't disappointed with the ball joint as it's a high wear component which is more so hampered by our pot hole ridden roads Roll eyes

Tbh I generally make sure she's well maintained. I look the car over once a month just to see every thing is hunky dory. I'm very particular with it, I even change the oil every 4k regardless if it needs it or not LOL

What did yours fail on mate?

I've only had mine 3 months so have been getting up to the standard yours is. I didn't let it fail, had everything done before the test Wink all new brakes, new exhaust, new wishbones, new driveshafts. And other work unrelated to the mot.

sounds fooking expensive! I have just treated mine to new plugs oil/filter change as well as fuel filter change to. Now I've taken care of the ball joint all seems well. I will change the other ball joint next month along with gear box oil as I'm a bit shirt of cash this month!

Got to tax the b*tch tomorrow Thumbs down

If your balljoints were that loose, then I suspect your hubs will be ovalled, or on their way to being so.

Tread carefully my friend, start saving LOL

Out of curiosity what does it mean exactly when a hub becomes ovalled?

Can it cause knocks or anything?

Wouldn't say they were ovalled the old one came out as normal as did the new one going in. They also tightened as they should do and now the car is knock free, so I'm thinking I got away with it Dunno

I blame the f*cking pot holes!

They won't be loose like putting a 16mm balljoint into an 18mm hub, just that there's small tolerances on those bad boys.

Essentially they can still be snug going in but like Mr B says, if they knock soon then its the hubs.

Hope you caught them in time dude
