Ok, so anyone following my project thread will know that I am going through a lot of fail with my exhaust at present.

Does anyone know what size/type of flange the gti6 uses at the start of the downpipe (connects to exhaust manifold)?

I am still having problems getting mine sorted. Its now gone to a different welder, but he runs his own place from home and doesnt have any disimilar metal welding rods.

Thinking its probably just easier to get a flange that can be welded to stainless steel using normal welding rods?

Advice appreciated Smile

I told them that, but they say they need disimilar metal welding rods. Like I said before, I have no idea Dunno

How do they make exhausts in the first place? Surely an exhaust builder can get hold of them from somewhere?

Get a cheap pattern knackered Cat and cut the flange off?

You can weld stainless to mild with mild wire, but it is probably looked upon as a 'bodge' by the company that you are approaching.

I usually dont push for this on a first date, but with a bit of whisky you could be in luck

    HTH

    LOL

This suggests a 2.5" bore Spoox

That would work, but for that price I think I could get Hayward and Scott to make me a full system Laugh

    I meant aftermarket exhaust makers.

I should just get Jim or Phil to sort it really.

there's only a few that do the decats, they'll be custom made SS flanges typically, often from pressed sheet or machined billet/plate.
