ive only scanned through the whole thread but ffs guys, what does a tenner buy these days?

£10 is f-all for the knowledge and information thats available on this site. i know for one that guides on this forum, asking questions and that kinda thing has saved me hundreds if not thousands being able to tackle and learn things by doing it my self rather than getting raped at a local garage or having all my work done by a "specialist".

i purchased gold membership straight away, mainly to show support to the club, the "community", invaluable knowledge thats about and i think its nice to give something back also.

I think hiding the forums altogether would do the trick, as said everyone can see the technical sections so searching for information is a piece of p*ss with no need to pay to use that info. Hiding the information will ensure people actually need basic membership.

I have also observed the observation that there's little admin time spent on here, where's the harm in "hiring" some moderator's when admin aren't around to help clean up the likes of people posting 4 of the same topic in the general section...ie rubberjohn who got a bit excited with all the buttons available for pressing?

i know it may be a slightly drastic approach but i like the idea of tc revival clicky. yes Owain and Gilesy and a few others may be getting stick for taking that approach but i think its necessary in some cases. yes everyone makes mistakes, occasionally misses some grammar or makes a spelling mistake etc, and we should forgive that, but a team of 'tc moderators' to kick trolls like rubberknob out, i think would be a good idea, as long as it is done fairly and the power isnt abused?

It's actually very ironic how two members, who have no doubt made a pretty packet thanks solely to the forum, haven't even paid for membership.. Traders should be forced to pay IMHO.

Fwiw if I still owned a Rallye I'd have paid up Wink

Definitely this. No trader would *not* pay £20 to make a load the load of cash they do from this site, so not making people pay for the Wanted/For Sale is just giving away free money.

Absolutely this. If the rest of us are being asked to pay - why not those who are making actual money out of it?????????????

A couple of general observations if I may:

When the site was free, peoples opinions on how it was run counted for a little bit more than jack sh!t - but not much. Now people have parted with their money (or in legal terms "a consideration"Wink, they have entered into some kind of contract that a certain service will be provided, and so their opinions do count a lot more - and so they should.

I like this site and it has saved me a lot of time effort and money since I bought the Rallye. Really wish I'd thought of buying the car earlier. I think part of what the site is suffering is a kind of "maturity" (and not really in a good way) since the new site came along - in the same way that when you are deployed on ops you know it is time to go home when the RAF Police/MPs arrive in Theatre with the speed guns. Clearly the strategic air transport is no longer at so much at a premium when you can afford to bring in half a dozen fat knackers with speed guns instead of piles of ammo and lean mean bayonet-wielding types.

But I think overall the site is still pretty good - if diluted from the much greater purity it once delivered.

I'm sure it will last many years longer.

I'm all for supporting the forum and was going to pay membership but i see no need for me to do so as its not really effecting me. I've carried on using the site as usual. I think traders Will tend to buy membership anyway as i think they'd need more space for their inbox? Maybe admin can update the sales threads for only paid members to post in?

The forum was free to post for the last 9 years. I, along with many others, contributed on occasion but it never even made a dent in the hosting costs.

A fiver now for all those years isn't much in my opinion.

I don't have a 306 atm but never the less I am still a proud member of this forum, so I think £5 is a small contribution which each and every member isn't going to get black listed over. I guess it all comes down to usage?

Exactly that, the amount poeple have got out of this forum over the years is massive, but I feel alot of new people haven't paid due to the so called long term members who feel they get nothing from this anymore so won't pay the tiny amount that's asked for.

Sorry, I think that is bo***cks. People will pay if they want to pay and feel like they will benefit from paying, and if they don't want to or don't feel like they'll benefit, then they won't.

Fact is, no-one benefits from paying because they can just ask the technical questions in General Chat and they get answered. So where is the point in paying? But that is old ground, we've been over it 100 times already

I've paid to join loads of internet based clubs beforeWhistle - shooting forums, 4x4 forums, other peugeot forums, f*ck me my MLR membership was £40 a year! But for that £40 a year I got proper magazines, of a quality you'd be happy to pay for in WHS. I got considerable discounts on the trackdays run by the club and on products, services and parts supplied by sponsors of the MLR. I got a pen, a full glossy colour calendar, a little lanyard to hold my membership card, top quality MLR stickers and a few other bits and pieces.

What do you get for your £20 here? f*ck all. What do you get for your £5? f*ck all. So why spend £5 at all? For £5 I could have two downloadable movies from suburbanamateurs.com and w*nk myself in to a total mess.

When the new forum was announced, I declared that I would be happy to pay to help out. Then I got a message from Ash telling me he was going to ban me because a few of the f*cking cry babies on here didn't like me and complained, and I got accused of having second accounts as someone had used MS.paint to mock up a fake message incriminating myself and some total bellend swallowed the lot and decided I was guilty Laugh my ass off

So, I hang around for the banter, because I've actually met some w*nkers normal people off here - the blue haddock, Welshpug, CUJ, Adam B and others I'm sure. But the place is of no real benefit to me, and if I got banned tomorrow I wouldn't give two shits. THAT is the reason I won't pay.

Who did you offend? I know you offend me but you cant help the way you look. Whistle

But yeah, the only benefit I would get for paying right now is being able to post in threads I am not interested in. I enjoy reading the projects, but I aint paying just to say 'Sweet project dude Thumbs up'

Ash, throw in a pen and I will be happy to give you some cash.

If I have a problem with my Rallye, I will just take it to pug cus I am too f*cking lazy to get help from here anymore. Otherwise Thugman lives down the road and he is always happy to help for a blowie.

Uanything to stop petty f*cking waste of time bullshit that crops up on here now. If you don't care then you have no reason to post and just p*ss off. You bunch Of complete argumentative c*nts!
