You can either pay to use the technical section or post your question in here where the same people will answer it with the same information but it won't cost you anything. Erm?

Yes, you have to pay to use the technical parts of the site.

When did 306gti.com start doing this?

It is completely against the spirit of the internet.

The new paid version of this site started up recently. Mixed opinions but that's just the way it is. Have you tried searching for the info you need?

edit: click_me for membership prices etc.

I will happily search the forum for all the wheel related info that I need.

However, I will not be able to participate in any new 'technical' (!) discussions.

Your loss.

tbh basic is only a fiver, and you can get and share knowledge.

I cant see the owners making much out of it, and after all they have to put in the time to maintain the site etc.

Whats a fiver? Dont be so tight Razz

Why would I pay to be a member of a message board. The internet is about sharing knowledge - not charging for it.

I have just spent 20 minutes on this forum and I now have the information I need. The admins have gained nothing, and I have only wasted my time.

Because it's a great little community of people who actually help each other out in person as well as just on here and so many illiterate idiots kept joining with stupid comments and trolling that it was decided to charge to help keep them out (amongst other financial reasons)......so your loss really. Wave

Yep! And you can't expect one person alone to do all the changes and backups and make things better for the forum without being able to cover his own costs.

£5 is nothing, you save that straight away when you find the answer to doing something rather than taking it to a garage.....
