Can you make the pictures a bit bigger? I can't see what I'm supposed to be looking at(!)

Joking aside, that's the bolt which holds the steering rack and column universal joint together, without that you're more than likely going to lose steering capability.

You didn't remove that did you? Or, was it just something you found lying around?

no it is from fletch old high boost car. found it whit all of the bolts for the engine ; )
