couldnt believe it, brought my rallye home today in case anybody interested in it needed more photos or wanted to have a look at it. anyway went to morrisons in the 307 and came back to a police car outside my house and a copper looking around my car.
excuse me is there a problem
yeah its not taxed or insured
i know but its not on the public highway
well it didnt fly here did it
so i went got the trade plates and told him thats how it came here, he turned around and said your a bloody smart arse are you
so i said have i done anything wrong?
not yet
id like your badge number please
he walked away covering his shoulders and said ill be watching you
now i have alot of respect for the police, most of the time, never been in alot of trouble but that c*nt really p*ssed me off.
i rang the local plod shop an explained what happened and all i got was, that wouldnt be 1 of ours!

Whilst I fully respect what the police are there to do, coppers these days are of a different class to the old school bobby.

Well done for sticking up for yourself. Even if I knew I was in the right, I don't think I'd have the balls to give them shit for fear of finding something wrong with the car, or the fact I have a thai bride locked in the loftLOL

we went to the cinema tonight, my dad drove his rough looking X reg focus and got pulled, he was speeding through town (33 in a 20 limit apparently), pc plod had a good look round, felt all the tyres and found one close to being illegal, did his little speech about it being £60 fine & 3 points then checked all documents were in order and just buggered off basically, i bet it would've been a different story had my dad been some 18 year old guy.

I'm about to go to court against the police for a fixed penalty for a "dangerous" tyre which according to VOSA and 4 independant MOT testers is fully road worthy and would pass an MOT...

SOME are fantastic and know their job, but others just need to find a different occupation.

I got stopped in Glasgow after changing the car colour. Back of the van, documents checked, asked if i'd notified insurance and DVLA, to which I replied yes I sent the V5C away last week to be updated and paid an extra £40 on my insurance, and they were like "uhmm well you shouldnt be driving it at the minute".

I asked why, and they radio'd in for a point to point, and my missus was sat in the car with the window open, she heard the second officer asking if any offence was being committed, to which they were told "well, no."

They then said if I was in town without my updated V5 by the Sunday they would give me a FPN, for what though i'm still not sure? I can understand them stopping me if the DVLA still had it down as blue, but no need to act the big man when there was no offence committed. They told me i shouldn't be driving the car until the papers were back updated, and given that the DVLA advise it can take up to 4 weeks i was apparently not to drive for up to a month and should have thought of that before painting it Roll eyes

I had a classic a couple of years ago when I used my old moped around uni.

Bacically there is a loophole in the law that states If you passed your driving license whilst in posession of a valid CBT (the very basic, almost unfailable training required to drive a moped on L plates) then you are permitted not only to remove the l plates but carry a pillion passenger provided the moped is restricted to 30mph...

Now the beauty of this is that hardly anyone knows about it and very few qualify as more often than not the cbt has expired.

One night back from uni I had my girlfriend on the back and I'm not sure if any of you have ridden a restricted moped, but they are god awful, only made worse carrying two! I would estimate we were packing around 6-8mph up a particularly large hill when a copper put him lights on behind. I eventually pulled over and was asked to join him in there car, they thought they had an easy conviction once I said I only had a cbt...

They said that court was almost certainly guaranteed along with a large fine.
I said I'm afraid it isn't, your wasting your time as... Loophole described above...

Policemen being as they are, hate being proved wrong and even the folk on the other end of the radio had no clue!

We ended the encounter by me saying I had written confirmation from the dvla and them saying see you in court, no you won't, yes we will, *helmet now on* you won't, we will, *engine started*'laughing

Then he said "and why were you going so slow?"

Needless to say they never got in touch!

I believe this Amanda knox's lawyer's final argument. It really can get you out of a scrape.

Can't believe he covered his shoulders? That has to be illegal!

I'd have taken his reg and called around the local plod offices.

That said, all the copper's i've encountered (which thankfully is very few) have been very reasonable. I've always found you need to be very 'respectful' and they appreciate that.
