Hi all, just a quick one about my seatbelts...took them out earlier this year when I stripped my car and got buckets, but am now in the process of putting all the interior back in so I can sell it standard(ish). However, just come to put the belts in and all but one of them have stopped working, and will not un-reel. Is this is a common problem after storing them does anybody know? Will it be that crap has got into the mechanism maybe or something? And is there a way of fixing this?

Failing that, who has a set of seatbelts to sell me?!

Cheers guys.

are you trying to unreel them in your hand, or when fitted?

they only unreel at the right angle - ie when fitted in the car - so don't be suprised if they don't work till you refit them

Ahh, i see. I did try pulling the belt out at all angles in case that was the problem, and the one that works also worked when not fitted. However, I shall go back now and fit them all properly to see if they work when in.

Will update with progress shortly. Cheers

Yup, they have to be lined up at the *perfect* angle, as in to the correct 5 degrees or so. I spent ages trying to sort mine before I realised LOL

Yeah, you know when you feel like a bit of a dick?

Went back out, whacked em in and as soon as they were bolted in, just the reel and not even the other 2 points, they worked fine...

...except the one I broke trying to "fix" beacuse even when bolted in it wouldn't pull through. Must have just not been at quite the right angle. bo***cks.

Its mental how it doesnt work at all and then just does as soon as you bolt it in. Also mental how long "un-stripping" a car bloody takes!!

Lol it's like when you go up a steep hill and want to reach to the stereo or whatever and can't get out if the seat because the belt has locked up and the more you try the tighter it gets.

LOL We all now we've been there.

There is a small ball bearing that sits in a little caged that if tilted in any shape or form then the belts just lock up.

Found out last weekend when putting the belts back in the 205. Sat there thinking, I swear they worked when I pulled them out!.
