Ouch, how much did you get shafted for?

Can pick up good 2nd hand shafts for around £25!

Shame timing was so critical!

Yeah I was shafted (lol) for 129, labour though innit, pain in the ass , shaft was about 70 quid. I don't think the price was bad really, I always get harder stuff done there

Can't really moan at that price mate, my last expensive repair I had done was on a Saab. I needed it for work asap so ended up paying £500 for a throttle body (and I sourced the part myself to save money) LOL

i did have a very similar problem a month back, i couldnt drive the car over about 40 mph before i literaly thought the car was going to come apart with the shaking, was very vary bad. i thought the worst but that turned out to just be a wheel balancing problem.
likes its been said so many places get it horibly wrong with the wheels being centreless. it took me 4 different garages before someone got mine right. then it was spot on after that.

i couldnt belive that just the weights could make such a violent shake but that was what it was for me

If you can see a wheel weight has dropped off. As a temporary measure I would remove the remaining weights. I did this last week after loosing 1 weight - removed the other 8 weights and the wheel runs balanced. This might just be lucky but a few people I know have experienced similar results. Makes me wonder if weights are needed after a NEW tyre has bedded in.

8 weights??? Surely that's a lot of balancing??
I also think the same about rebalancing after tyres wear in or in fact just as routine every so often as I do notice that cars start to lose that super smooth feeling they get with new tyres after a couple of thousand miles.

WTF are you doing with this bump?

I'm currently listening to new Little Boots song called Shake and thought it was a thread about this. I quite like it

Back On Topic. Nope never encountered a need to rebalance in between tyre changes on 4 sets of clones that I've had and numerous tyres per corner. Then again I don't get a plate spinner to balance my wheels.
