seriously, none of this f*cking around with cleaners and small brushes and whatnot. just get a steam cleaner on it. a PROPER steam cleaner. leave engine running, soak it in a light TFR or something like Smart Wheels and leave it for a minute, and blast it off with a 150degree hot steamer. it'll look brand new and take a whole minute to do it from start to finish. i've done it loads on numerous cars and haven't once had a problem. never ever covered a thing up. people read horror stories and myths and it's bullshit. just do it this way________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Yes I steam cleaned my engine bay a couple of months ago and it that worked well. I found stuffing a dry rag under the coilpack cover helped. |

What's the thinking, just that as it's steam onto a hot engine it'll evaporate off rather than pooling anywhere? ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

i use one of these:http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=114397 i've left the engine running every time, didn't cover the ECU or anything.. just be careful where you're cleaning. no point having the nozzle point blank into the alternator or ECU is there also steamed all the side of the house and flags at weekend. it also takes the colour off slugs completely. FACT. white slugs FTW ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

hey it's for steam cleaning coaches and blasting the underside of transmission on cars off before working on them, but a lot of places (garages) use similar stuff. seriously, it is effortless cleaning power________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

You can buy a lot of Polish guys for £1800. Would be interested to know how much the "domestic" ones are - £250 I could live with, but not if it was pointless. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |
