Hi Guys, i've copied this over from .net as a potential customer told me to speak to voice this on here.

As promised in another thread i said i would speak to IM Axles with regards to producing an oilite conversion for 306's. So, a few weeks later, he gets back to me and has produced a product.

You're best to look on their website for most details about oilite conversions. But here is their 106 oilite beam. Read the details. http://www.imaxle.co.uk/catalog/oilite-bush-axle-106

Anyway, what he's offering is:

Rear beam TUBE fitted with oilite bushes, a pair of machined trailing arm pins (to fit the bushes) and all relevant seals to rebuild the beam. This lot is £290. You would need to fit everything yourself or pay someone to do it.

He can also supply a complete beam, fully built for £365.

Im my opinion, this lot is worth thinking about, to pay someone to rebuild a knackered beam you're looking at at least £170, plus your old beam might be too knackered to rebuild. The tubes go oval and the trailing arm pins rust and become pitted and un-useable - donor beam at least £100, that bumps you upto about £250, only £20 off the price of the kit form (minus labour). Add another hundred if you don't know what your doing and you've got another rear beam which is much better and will last that's gonna bolt on. (after swapping your brakes). Bingo.

Some feedback would be great, he'd like to get some interest in the kit.

Sounds like a good idea.

Thing is though, my beam lasted 15 years on normal bushes. I can't see the car living long enough to see another 15 years so seems a bit overkill.

Could be good for peace of mind though, especially with track cars?

Great work IM did for me, i had my 205 one sorted a few weeks ago >Top service.

The thing is its not so much how long the bearings will last its more how much or when water gets in there and damages them. Oilite ones do the biz very well. You also dont have to depend that the rollers were made very well, because when one goes it can ruin the others.

I will ask them at some point if they can re weld bad axle pins then machine them back to the correct size ? My 6 may need a good look around at some point.
