Carl i am very pleased to see you have put so much effort into polishing the old girl. Honestly i thought that the paint was in such a bad condition that it could not be restored. Guess i was wrong. Have you managed to eliminate the swirl marks and stains on the roof? As those were the bits that seemed the worst to me? As you stated the left side wing was in very bad shape, damaged, rusted and rough as f**k.

The painted parts also look awesome. I'll need to get my Oz Ultras powder coated asap. The bits on the Porsche also look great Thumbs up

Looking forward to the next update Hyper

Cheers

Paintwork wise it's come out very good, few small marks but nothing to worry about and not that noticeable, I have changed the wing and its being painted as we speak, also had a small scuff sorted on the edge of the bumper same side as the wing. Just a few small dents and that's it, it's a clean car to be fair, very straight.

Next will be the engine work, just waiting for the snow to p**s off then I can crack on. Doing it at home so it's a night time job after work.

Glad your happy.

Carl

Yes mate i have sorted some here on Germany, bloody expensive thou with TUV approval 150€, they are a bit longer than the standard ones and have a 90° bend with m10 fittings if i remember right. I only need to check if my rears will fit though as apparently there are 2 different types.
i think i posted some pics of them on here?

Here a quick update. Three weeks ago i set about finding a competent and good powder coater in our surroundings. I found one in the Netherlands. Initially i just wanted to get my Ultra's done. But as i am a nice person i asked in our garage if someone would be interested in getting their wheels done in the same time.

Let's go to the powder coater they said.
It will be fun they said.

So today we went back up there where we were greeted with this

Last but not least, some pictures of my Ultraleggeras which will be packed in Michelin Pilot Sport 3's in 205/45/16 Love

The finish and the colour is impeccable. The only problem now is that my alloy OZ spigot rings no longer fit, so i'll have to get the powder out of there.

On an other note and to whom it may interest, one of my mates is currently building a 4WD Golf Mk2 where this monster engine will go in
1.8 20V Turbo from early S3

Big turbo

He will be picking up the Mk2 shell tomorrow, this thing will be a real beast once done.

But back to my 6. Carl has received the charger and will start the conversion so it should not take long before the 6 gets back to Luxembourg where it will get the brakes and wheels. I hope the weather will soon start to get better and the whole salt will get washed away by a few rainy days.

That's all for now Fellas, thanks for watching Thumbs up

Well I have now received all the bits to get cracking on with this, I just had to un earth it and get it in to a state it wouldn't get my nice new garage dirty.

Started like this, Thumbs down

Time to try out my old but newly refurbished hot washer, when the garage was being built, I daftly left this outside and it froze, a large repair bill later and I got on with the job.

This left me with this

I then decided to wash the engine bay off as it was a bit grubby, this way it keeps me from getting covered in crap, started with this

After spraying on the gunk, it doesn't look much but the crap that came off was unreal

After all that was done I had to make some space, marco you pain, it meant getting the old classic out and taking it to my other lock up, wasn't that excited about the s**tty salty roads.

Carl

Ohhh s**t Carl, sorry for you having to get the porker out in the snow and salt. Just read your status on FB it surely isn't easy to keep temper with some folks.
Today we got another 15cm of fresh snow streets up north are a mess. But you guys seem to have had some too.

I am really looking forward to see some progress on this mate. I'll send you a pm or mail later on as I am on the phone right now

it would be a dead car in the way once all the front is off, this way I can take it to bits and do it at night, plus I will be warm left alone and can just crack on with it.

Plus it gives me an excuse to have to go in the garage, jacks bum will have to be changed by her then and not me Thumbs up

Well, jack was being grumpy and this was making the missus grumpy, time for a retreat.

Up you go

Pulled the front off complete, left me with this

After half an hour or so the missus brought me in a snack (bacon sand which and a coffee) ahh, a quick stop and off we go again. (Note another mashed gti6 head in the background)

This is what an hour of my time you are left with

Complete front off, slam panel, lights, rad fans etc, inlet manifold off with the fuel rail etc, air con compressor off, idler pulley for the aux belt, aux belt tensioner and the power steering pump.

This is where I left it for tonight. Have to say its a very clean front, not much rust at all.

Carl

Decided to pull my finger out and get a bit more done on this, first I had to strangle I mean burp my son

Then off to the garage to tango the motor.

It was then I decided to fit the double roller bearings into the aux belt rollers

And fitted, secured with a c clip

I then set about fitting this lovely piece of kit to the bracket.

It's porn I tell you

It was then onto the bracket that's a very snug fit to the rear of the charger, this is sealed with a grooved in o ring and also houses the restrictor ring for the low boost model cars which this one is.

Boost restrictor ring, held in place here with a dot of sealer, held in place secure when the throttle body is all fixed into place.

Seeing my supercharger for the first time Hyper Hyper
I am sooooooo looking forward to get this thing back, specially now the weather is starting to get better gradually. I'll get my new tyres on my new wheels tomorrow, the 2,5" exhaust has been ordered with the ceramic cat, and i still need to get me the right pads and brake discs.
Carl can you please let me know about the rear brake lines which ones are on my car as i need to get in touch with the company who made them in case i need the short ones.
Cheers mate and thanks for keeping this updated Thumbs up

Right only got half of it out, my dinner arrived.

This bolt is a twat to get to on a right hand drive car, simples on this one

I decided the replace the rocker covers with the tangod pair, from this

To this, a little brighter.

At this stage we had the charger bracket, charger, inlet manifold and fuel rail with the larger injectors fitted, I never had the fixings to fit the aux belt pullies (bugger) .

With the new bits on it seemed mad to fit the old bolts, a rummage through my box and I found a few which worked a treat

Fitted the strut brace and called it a night, coming along now.
