Hi everyone.

Just after a bit of help/advice.

I noticed yesterday that everytime I engage drive or let off the throttle once in motion I get a knock. It's a single knock which I can feel through the pedals.

It doesn't matter how hard you apply the throttle or how quick you let off. As said though it's a single knock. Once when you
apply the throttle and once when you come off.

It's got me stumped! I have had a look around the bay and underneath and everything seems fine but maybe I'm
overlooking something Dunno

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thankyou.

Have you checked the top engine mount cradle? It's common for the bottom to rust and break away leaving the top engine mount loose.

I haven't checked that in so much depth. Gave it a bloody good seeing to with a bar though and it didn't seem that there was much movement at all.

Could it still be the mount? And if the cradle hads rusted away is it an easy fix?

Thanks Rich.

Sounds like im not the only one guna be under my car tomorrow LOL

I have a strange feel through my brake and clutch pedal when breaking harshly or changing gear aggresively the front of the car feels like something metalic like a joint is pulling apart and slamming back together again. Can really feel something moving like an engine mount under harsh stopping or really going for it.

I went under the driver side the other day and tightened every single bolt i could find and that seems to have cured a little knocking that i still bloody have on that side.

But i think this weird sensation is coming from the passenger side - will look tomorrow :s

I will try and look at mine this eve whilst I re paint my bonnet badge.

I'm so confused though! I guess it could be a number of things. It doesn't feel as if the engine is flexing when you nail it though.

Did you have a proper look?
Putting a jack under the engine to take the weight
Remove the mounting arm pop out the cradle mount thingy and unscrew the engine mount and where it screws in may be cracked and broken?
Jimmy boy did an FAQ on this look it up!!

Have you also looked at your p bushes on your lower arms?
But like rich said I recon top mount! Wink

^^^^^

Thanks for the advice the FAQ looks useful. If this is the problem could I get a thin metal plate welded in there at all?

I shall have a real good look and follow the FAQ on my next day off.
