hi guys

pretty sure this hasn't been asked before.

but what are the best road (not track) tyres for 16" and 17" wheels?

there is only one choice for 15" wheels, and thats the pe2s

cheers

I've been running 16s for a few years (195/45) - first moved to them because the choice in 15s for sportier road tyres was becoming poor, later it became an issue of brake clearance.

Of the ones I've tried (and believe me I've had Hankangs and Nankooks and other horrors, but never again) I'd say the best are:

Eagle F1 GSD3
Continental Sport Contact 3
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (which I'm currently running).

However, I got my Michelins on a deal, given the price they now retail at I'd happily go with the Continentals. The Eagle F1s were great in the wet, but a little soft and easy to overheat in the summer. Still a great tyre though.

I got Pirelli PZero Nero's on mine (195/45) and they are great, really grippy and very little wear Smile

Avon ZV5's for me. Got t1r's on at the min and not that impressed tbh Sad

Personally 17's on a 306 feel shit. Both my rallyes came with them and felt much better on std cyclones. But thats my opinion!

No the rallye. But I would think they would do them in 16's. Clio had got a pair of what they should have on them and a pair of bridgestone. They are ok Smile

Goodyear F1's on my 16's in 205/45 are very goodSmile

Also as a bonus the car handles just as well on the 16's as it did on CyclonesWink

I've used falken ze912s for a while now and have been very impressed.

However due to a month of being broke and needing 2 new tyres I had ro resort to part warns Shock So I'm now running nankang ns sport 2s on the front. I was wary at first but I can genuinely say that they grip like fook in the dry. Haven't tried them in the wet yet but today might be that day Dry

I need new tires this month and i want to go with 205/45s on the TD1.2s, im just worried that they will scrub either inner or outer arch. They appear to be ford offset and the spaces say somthing like 26mm.

Any thoughts or do i have to stick with 195s?

Falken 452's if you can get them, run these for years now, good grip, wear in all conditions bar snow but I've got snow tires for the winter

I've got Yoko S.Drive AS01's on my 16's atm, they're ok, good in the wet and comfy over a long distance. You can't push them nearly as hard as a set of T1R's though, especially in the dry. Wear looks reasonable.
