Hello all,

Just wondering if you can fit rear disk backing plates without taking the caliper and disc off?

Thanks

You mean the disc protectors? Pretty sure you can, just two rusted up torx screws from the back IIRC.

Yes you can. There were 3 rusted up torx bolts on mine, you will also need to un-plug the ABS sensors from under the boot floor as they are threaded through the slot in the backing plate as well.

Hammer a 12 point socket on them once you've rounded them off.

Take them off to paint, decide they look shit and are fooked, throw them in corner of garage and tell yourself that the car looks better without them, that's what I did, Thumbs up

I'd imagine they keep a bit of crap off the discs in dirty weather, personally I put mine back on. Don't really like the idea of my discs being exposed that much.

I;ve never ran them on any of my car's over 20 years and if anything it's better, more air flow and no chance of getting a stone cult in them, Complete change of topic but Land Rovers etc take them off to for the same reason
