Thought i'd start a thread even though ive near enough finished it. so back in april 2009 i bought this 205 1.6 gti for very little money because it had HG failure and no tax or MOT with the intention of fitting a 306 gti 6 engine. it was only 50miles away but getting it back was a right pain. and it didnt help with nosey people phoning the police!

i found this gti 6 for £400 with a good engine but had high miles, i was over the moon. i was thinking about selling it and buying another engine which had low mile but i knew this one was running and ok so in the end i decided to break it which was a good idea. i made £600+ back and i scrapped the shell. so got a free engine and £200.

all that money went back into the car thought. getting the loom done, 309 running gear with PAS rack, new cambelt, water pump etc

as i rushed the conversion because i wanted the car on the road for summer i didnt get many pictures but heres one with the engine in.

i was on rubbish money at the time and money soon dried up and couldnt afford to put the car on the road so for the summer of 2009 it sat like this in my garden

in september 2009 i started a new job as a long distance lorry driver so new funds were available i decided to sort out the rear end and rebuild my axle along with new brake lines, braided brake hoses, discs and pads, bakerBM solid mounts etc.

the only pic i managed was one when i was putting the axle back together

now that rear was coming together i turned my attention to the engine. i was already impressed with how quick it was but like all of us that power wasnt enough. i was considering going down the TB's and cams but then i came across a supercharged 205 and the idea grew on me straight away. i saw a kit come up forsale on here and put a deposit down on it straight away. the chap i bought it off was a top bloke as i had problems with my bank so couldnt get the rest of the money to him as soon as i wanted to but he didnt mind waiting which i appreciated.

and this is what i got

reading from the 205GTI forum i found out i needed to make the inlet manifold shorter so i could close my bonnet. i got to rich w who had one spare and was happy enough to do a straight swap which i was very pleased with.

as you many of you know the charger is £1500plus so i spent a few weeks saving and didnt really get much done. i did decide that i wanted to give her a full respray so did strip her down for painting.

and when i got her back

it took ages for me to get her back as it was a mate who was doing it on the cheap so i had loads of parts mounted up in my front room so when she came back i got on with fitting the kit along with the charger, injectors, inlet manifold, shorten rad, dummy PAS, plugs, brakes, crank pulley. . .

Looking good. I am soon to be putting a GTi6 lump in a 205 so will be checking back for reference to see how litle space there is, and how and where you have routed things

so last summer i lost complete interest in this, hard to believe but i did. it was driving me mad making brakets for the chargecooler and sorting out all the piping etc plus i wanted it on the road for the 1st of june which soon flew past and so did summer.

To get myself back into it i decided to ditch the charge cooler, so i searched ebay and various other sites to find a decent size intercooler for a few weeks then i found this universal forge intercooler. It wasnt cheap either!!! after a week of planning and marking out how i was going to mount everything this is what i came up with Big grin

i know the charger oil cooler isnt in the best place but as i was struggling with room, this seem like the only place to put it.

while i was on a spending spree i managed to find me some brand new Toyo R888 so then i decided to get my OZ Supperleggeras powder coated at the same time. i'm not sure on the colour yet and still feel i should have gone for black but hopefully i'll grow to like the colour.

i'm quite shocked at how much wider they are over a standard 1.9 gti wheel!!!

    standard

    Supperleggera

unfortunately i sold the wheels back in january which i really regret now. i sold them far too cheap and i could really do with them now i realise how hard it is to keep the power down Sad

with everything coming together in december i finally got her running, was a bit worried as it was turning over for ages and wouldnt start but in the end it kicked and purred away Big grin

Only problems was i think because the engine had been stood for over a year, all the lifters had drained and its making one hell of a noise Angry

anyways heres some more pictures and a vid.

with an oil change and driving it for 10 minutes the tapping soon went.
i managed to get her booked in for an mot in feb and she pass with no advisories.

since the mot i havent really done much to her apart from realise a few little problems i need to sort out in winter:

    clutch is slipping
    fuel surge
    head gasket
    ICV not working properly
    driveshafts are leaking.

hoping to get her through the summer and then in winter sort out all the little problem along with:

    Cage
    Bucket seats
    LSD
    High Boost Ninja

heres a few pics of her from the other day
