Hi gents,

Bear with me as i'm newish to these engines. What are the sensors on the block?

The one I labelled C is in fact connected to the purple spade terminal to the right of the pipe.

The one I have labelled M16 blank, is this one of the two positions I read about that you can fit an aftermarket oil pressure gauge?

It's from a Phase 2 Xsara VTS if it helps. Your input is appreciated. Smile

A - Oil warning light pressure switch

B - Knock sensor (late type - Xsara only for this enigine)

C - Oil level probe

D - Knock sensor (early type - only one used on the 306)

Blank - Unused on the Xsara - Phase 1 GTi-6 oil pressure gauge sender

Follow the cable on the D connector and see where it goes. You shouldn't have both connectors there. The early knock sensor had a tail out to the connector and as you can see the later one has the plug on the sensor body.

D goes as you describe, to a sensor in the block front, right behind the black plate, you can just see the gold coloured head of the bolt at the top centre of the photo.

That's a bit strange, it came from an 02 Xsara, and seeing as I was guaranteed to have plugs spare when dropping the lump in my rallye i was just looking to see whether they were required.

Thank you for your help Rich, by chance do you work for Pug? Smile
