help please the stop light comes on at around 80 but the fans dont come in till almost 100, it was perfect before i blew the oil cooler replaced that and put a new thermostat as the old had thrown the rubber out. Anyone any ideas .

check the values in a manual for coolant temp sensor and see if they are roughly the same on a multimetre the sensor should be around the thermostat housing somewhere

TEMPERATURE-- RESISTANCE (OHM)

10-- 3530 - 4100
20-- 2350 - 2670
30-- 1585 - 1790
40-- 1085 - 1230
50-- 763 - 857
60-- 540 - 615
80-- 292 - 326
90-- 215 - 245

-ENSURE INGNITION IS SWITCHED OFF
-DISCONNECT ECT SENSOR MULTI-PLUG
-RELIEVE RESIDUAL PRESSURE IN COOLING SYSTEM
- REMOVE ECT SENSOR FROM ENGINE
-IMMERSE ECT SENSOR PROBE IN COOLANT OF SPECIFIED TEMPERATURE
-CHECK RESISTENCE BETWEEN ECT SENSOR TERMINALS
-ECT SENSOR MAY BE CHECKED IN SITU IF ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND RESISTENCE AND READINGS ARE COMPARED.
