Right as you no after my first 6 got killed in action on the motorway, i set out to look for a minter. after 10 weeks of searching i came across this beast, and now its going to be a case of keeping it clean and up to scratch. this isnt going to be a mad project thread like others on here. but everyhting will be done to a high standard and many things will be getting rebuilt, replaced or uprated. hope you enjoy what gets done.
thanks, tom

first job is a few cosmetic changes under the bonnet, although the car has done very low millage for its age parts where starting to look abit mank. luckily i had loads of spare parts from the old car so i got the dremmel and sand paper out and started to refurb, inlet, throttle body, cam covers, fuel rail etc.

firstly i appologise for the picture quality they arnt great i know, its easy to take pictures fast with my blackbery but i will try and get as many with the slr also.

first i rubbed down my spare inlet trying to get rid of as many of the moulding lines as possible and get it as smooth as a can, then a coat of acid etch primer and i ended up with this.

My mum hates the fact i was using her kitchen as a spray booth, but its too cold to spray outside and she liked the fact i was quiet and keeping out of trouble.
I then gave it a quick rub down and applyed a matt black mist coat, which left me with this.

i wanted to keep it looking as clean as possible and i thought for ages what would look nice and how to make the engine bay look good and not to ott. i decided i wanted to keep the standard colour of the car. so i went down to halfords and brought a few cans of china blue spray paint after another rub down i was left with this.

after a few coats a shed load of rubbing down and i was eventually happy with the finish. I got some silver out and a fine brush and started to add some detail to the cam covers.

all of my parts where sprayed in a few coats of oil and petrol resistant laquer. after all of my hard work i would have been annoyed if something eats through it all. then i left them in my airing cupboard for a good week before putting them all together.

im pretty happy with my first job they look great in real life ,much better than these poor pictures.
I have got a omp upper brace on its way which i am also painting in china, and a carbon fibre coil pack cover.
i have had a load of bits for the engine bay powdercoated so when they are all finished then i will fit the lot in one go with some before and after pictures from the slr.

brought a rear beam off of one of the guys off of here. compleat bargain for £20. anyways daveyboy delivered it one night and the next day i got to work on it. it came apart nice and easily and it was obvious that it had been rebuilt. so i need to drop it down to the powdercoaters so that it can pe painted in its standard colours. the rear beam will be getting rebuilt with.
xsara torsion bars, ash hybrid arb, billy b6's, baker bm solid rear mounts

Have to say i think its overkill on the china manifold and covers mate,

silvers a far nicer colour and will brighten the engine bay up a treat

Did you paint the underneath of the manifold china? It looks like its still in primer - might be the flash though?

Just leave the fecking thing alone. Keep it standard and enjoy it. Instead of wasting time on manifolds and spray paint get out and enjoy driving the thing

Yes its all painted. And I've had a lot of silver bits powder coated for the engine bay so it does break it up well.

right did abit more on this on the weekend. i now have the rear beam that i brought compleatly stripped down ready to be powdercoated and then re built with hybrid arb, xsara torsion bars , and solid rear mounts. i also took the valeos out the front and split them open to black mask them. looks so much better imo but once again it another personal preference thing. i also decided to take my air intake off and see about increasing the air supply some how reasy for when i run my viper. pictures to follow

so after baking my valeos in the oven for a good 10 mins at about 60 degrees, and some carefull prizing with a few flat bladed screwdrivers i eventually got the buggers apart. It took a while but i was trying not to damage them as when the bonnet is lifted they will look cack. so a light rub down to key up the surface ready for a few coats of primer, then few of gloss black and i was left with this.

All back together again and im really pleased with them.

was fiddling around with the car and was wondering if by enlarging/ repositioning the intake whole on the ram pipe you would see any extra gain. i know it would be nothing but every little helps especially when i fit my viper. so i got my 20mm hole cutter out and file and had a play.
