Ok so after nailing it on a motorway for half hour or so I came to a halt in town traffic when I herd a pop like a large spud gun and then some dreaded Top Gear style steam from the front engulfed the car most embarrassingly Sad

The bleed cap I've circled in yellow below decided to jump ship and now lies somewhere in Bristol now. So first question, should this of happened? isn't the main filler cap supposed to release any excess pressure?

Secondly can a new cap be obtained? and what's the part number? or am I looking at a whole new rad?

Cheers for reading.

2nd hand rad IMO!

Will cost about £20-£30 and will be fine as long as you give it a good look over and replace the pressure valve cap!

Other than that I would go for a nissens ally rad. I have one and they are much better than the o.e rad.

The reason for yours going pop though is probably due to a pressure build up. Air lock in the system or faulty thermostat but you should have seen a massive rise in temperature before this happened.
