since i went to a sainsburys fuel station and filled up the other ive noticed a fuel smell when outside the car,
fast forward a week or so and when i returned to the car today there was a 20cm or so wide circle of what i think was fuel, i noticed it dripping slowly from literally just in front of the rear wheel behind the skirt but i didnt get on the ground because of the stuff on the ground

Btw the puddle was dark but im certain this was because the fuel was cleaning the ground :S
where it was dripping it was clear, and i caught one of the drips and it sure did smell like petrol Razz
has anyone had this before, im thinking a car that uses petrol while not in use it a bit of a pain in the ass Razz

I have had this before - all it is (or it was for me) was a 90 degree pipe from the fuel filler to the tank just infront of the rear wheel.

Its an easy part to replace and I believe is universal to all 306's - I used a diesel part after a good clean! Big grin

this sounds not as catatrophic as i thought then, i'll just chuck it in the garage probably, i cant be assed with doing this my self, anything involving the fuel tank is surely going to be a pain
cheers mate

I did this myself and my spanner skills aren't up to much.

To be honest it was a ball ache as I had to loosen the fuel tank to get the new one on. More petrol left in the tank than I thought and it went everywhere!

Can confirm it is a universal part. All you actually need to do is to take off the rear wheel, inner arch guard thing and all will be obvious. Pipe held on with two clips (the new one comes with jubille clips to replace). It is almost certain that its that pipe that's gone as they perish with time.

i changed mine and as above didnt realise how much fuel i had left and dumped a lot on the garage floor whilst repeating a certain word. lol. There are two jubilee clips to undo then pull it off. The tricky bit for me was to put the new rubber bend back on, the trick with this was to submerge the new pipe in warm/hot water which will expand the rubber slightly which will make it easier to put back on. But be quick doing this!

I was on the light. To be fair, if you jack the car up high and don't have to loosen the fuel tank (the hot water method sounds easier!), I don't think you will have problems if you run it down to the light.

Also it might be worth checking the top of the fuel tank though the viewing holes under the rear seat,
mines dripping from one of the pipes there.

The fuel filter is in front of the drivers side rear wheel as well and that is a consumable, might not necessarily by the tank or filler pipe
