although on my 205 but the 306 compbrake top mounts are the same design. issue is the step down nut on the top bolting onto the strut doesn't go down far enough, only use's half the nut and doesn't look very safe.
i remember reading something on here before how people overcame it but a search didnt bring anything up.

You need to get get the top of the shock turned down so it sits higher up in the mount/bearing!

yeah i had a funny feeling its what was needed, so will need to turn it down and run a dye down to increase the thread length.Sad

No need to run a die down it, the extra bit of shock going up in to the bearing will give you the extra thread on top!

for the short term i think i will turn the nuts down as got a trackday in 2 weeks and im not going to have my car back until this weekend at the earliest and will need some testing before then. can't afford not to the shocks on the car.

With the Peugeot sport bilsteins, there is an insert with a longer thread at the top, designed for use with the adjustable mounts. There is also the one with the standard length thread. Im guessing that the other manufacturers just dont design with those top mounts in mind!

Some rods have a removable collar that can be used or not dependant on which design of topmount bearing is fitted at the time. Most rods however don't have this useful feature.

did you ever sort this out.

I have just had the same issue and have threaded the inside of a standard tophat spacer, and used a very thin half nut to lock it all together.
