Just had my car in for an MOT (just passed with suspect emissions after putting CAT on) and my handbrake is yanked right up so its nearly touching the back of housing when it on full.
Before, it come up about 3ins and around 3-4 clicks.
Now it comes up about 7-8ins and has 12 clicks before handbrake engages.

Is this ok?
Should I adjust to click only 3-4 times again.
Also, will this of damAged the cable.

Thanks.

Adjust it so it clicks 3-4 times.

if you cant get it to go to 3-4 click you will have a streched cable that will need replacing.

They have probably been heavy handed to get your handbrake effiency high enough to pass the testWink

The handbrake mechs are not the best on the rear calipersSad

Great!
I'm going to try and adjust it tomorrow. It actually feels like its getting worse, I'm having to pull it right the way back and I don't feel at all comfortable that's its going to hold.

after fitting a new drivers side HB cable, i did a quick rush adjustement and never got back to it.

went to shop for beer other day got home, parked up, applied HB. My drive has a slight incline.

30 mins later i went back out to car to find it had rolled 30m out on to street Doh

I had to get in quick before anyone saw me: Blush

Adjusted handbrake to 4 clicks next day. LOL

This literally just happened to me, Parked on drive to run in and grab my lunch. Came out to find it at the bottom of my drive. Handbrake on, Neutral Sad

Luckily the HB was on enough to let it roll slowly, my neighbour had just parked their new Disco on the path opposite my drive

I normally always do leave in gear, don't know what happened.

I did have to look twice for it to sink inLOL
